I've often wondered by how much manufacturers are able to inflate their prices by describing something as tactical/assault/military spec...........

in 2014 any manufacturer wanting to sell out door gear will have to slap the name tactical on it, Tactical blanket, tactical sewing kits, tactical onesie, tactical umbrella and shutter blinds etc...

I don't know how much price inflation is involved, per se, but rather standard marketing hype. It's like a default word choice when writing the advertising blurb.

    I want a tactical pizza.

I wonder how many tactical packs have completed the Appalachian Trail. I am going to guess 0

I always figured a tactical lunch box was either for parrying strikes or for hitting someone on the head.

That would have black pudding (blood sausage) on it, right? And I think you could add a bit of ground activated carbon to the dough to make it at least gray.

i need that tactical pizza slicer.. can never cut my pie straight. and don't forget tactical deep fried pizza. extra fat that you can pack on will come handy in tactical situation as floatation assistance, and possible help in slowing down bullet penetration to the mid section.

    Oh God....
As a firearm's enthusiast, I actually HATE the words "tactical," "operator," etc.
All are gimmicks and thrown around by peeps we like to refer to as "mall ninjas"

I enjoyed the post that JonSidneyB put up as a sticky in the knives subforum. I had similar thoughts as I walked around the Blade Show in Atlanta this year. It seemed like every other booth was hyping "tactical, military, high-speed gear designed for use by operators." How can so many thousands of people come together and so few of them have an understanding of what blade shapes and grinds actually work for different uses? Sharp great cutting blades don't seem to get the same interest as the ones that look tough or sexy. Recurved blades? Boy those look sexy, but I wonder how many people have actually tried to sharpen one. "This knife is heavy duty and won't let you down." True, it is hard to destroy a quarter inch thick piece of plate steel, but will it cut an apple? or am I only going to smash it into apple sauce?

Sorry to rant, but why do they now make tactical knives that will last a thousand years and survive the end of the world... almost used the Z word..and I have to replace the refrigerator/oven/microwave/washer/dryer etc every five years while my uncle is still using a refrigerator from the 1950's, my grandmother a gas stove from before I was born, and my father is still using the first microwave they ever bought. I want Tactical appliances, all mechanical controls please. (It seems that the electronics are the things that go, and it is cheaper to replace than repair them.)

Had a guy come into my job looking for a tactical shotgun, I showed him the Remington 870 Express tactical. End result? It wasn't tactical enough for him!
