It is not all price rises. Some of it is dollar devaluation. Another part of it is sector necking. Another is merchantilism. Another is the valuation problem. Much of it is a misunderstanding of how economies function.

    This is not Surefire's fault.

There is a thread that I have to clean up and finish that when done will help explain some of what is going on though this is not the topic of the thread.

http://edcforums.com/showthread.php/74519-Robinson-Crusoe This is a very complex subject and there are a ton of false ideas about it. Quite a bit of ground work needs to be able to explain common things.

Economics will not help you make money but can help understand things that happen to nations and currencies. The subject is sometimes said to be about scarcity but I don't like that definition.

I'm sorry, Jon. I'd normally agree with the above. However, it is important to keep in mind that SureFire is known for the military contracts they have. Compared to other flashlight companies, SureFire is indeed small. But far from struggling. We all know how ridiculously wasteful the Government can be. SureFire's core customer base is the military. With Law Enforcement a distant 2nd. Private citizens get the left-overs. There's no need for SureFire to increase prices the way that they do.

Currently SureFire's least populat LED model since they discontinued the L7.

Ironically, many folks actually believe that the AA E2L version is SureFire's first AA model.

What I suspect is happening is a fixed cost delema compounded by a couple of other factors including a variable cost problem. This can affect businesses of all sized including those with government contracts. Give me a chance to map out the accounting senario that leads to this. A great many businesses with government contracts run into these kinds of problems during various times. The difficulty of keeping the dollar up is going to be more and more difficult as time goes by and we are seeing some of that now.
