Nope, won't fry it (li-ion's are 3.7 and the P-lamps are rated for 6V), but it won't be all that bright (if it lights up at all since it's a HOLA).

(But don't trust me, I don't know squat about incans.)

I don't know of any battery chemistry with nominal 6V. Those batts are usually smaller cells wired together into a larger package (sort of the same of having 2x123's).

What size are the AW cells you're using? Two rcr123s will fry the lamp. One 17670 will really underpower it.

They are rechargable 3.7V ICR123's....I had two regular "Battery Station" batteries in it, but the light got realy, really hot....
Then I put the AW's in it and I'm pretty sure I fried the lamp....it won't work at all now.....  ??? :toilet:

you guys probably know but the voltage is as high as 4.2V on freshly charged 3.7V rechargeables.
I usually stop charging at 4.10-4.15V.

If your charger doesn't automatically cut off at a safe voltage, you might consider getting one that does.

I had rechargeable 3.7's don't know if they were AW but they sure fried the bulb on my G2 in one shot. Expensive mistake

All this bulb frying sounds like a good excuse to go buy a drop-in, maybe a malkoff... it's worth the extra loot, i promise.

Well after reading the batteries were safe, and then the P61 bulb not working...I put the spare P60 bulb in and fried that one too....
Both AW 123's had just come off a fresh charge on my ultrafire charger.

Sooooo.....where is the best and most reasonable source for an LED drop in for the G2? One that will handle my rechargables?

Depends on how much you want to spend. I think you can get one off ebay for $20 or so, but if you want malkoff drop in keep in mind the shipping is $20, then he send by express which is surefire way of getting nailed by customs so it probalby will cost over $100 in the end.  :broke:

Edit: how does $13 sound? Delivery may take two weeks thou.

The SureFire P90 can be run by your rcr123s, but not the P91. It's a nice option.

No problem, now you just need to be patient since they aren't known for quick delivery (although being on west coast means yours doesn't have to go through canada post snail mail like I do lol). :D
