Is there supposed to be a lockout on the G2? On my 6PL I can turn the tail cap and prevent the light from turning on but my G2 will still activate turned almost all the way out.

    Thanks in advance.

just turn it counter clockwise until pushing on the button no longer turns it on

Early G2's did not have a lock out tailcap.

Could this be remedied by swapping out to a later example of the tail or is it dependent on the body?

It's definitely a tail cap issue, so a newer one should solve it. Its ok this one is destined to be mounted on my M4 so no lockout is not a big issue.

Yup its a tailcap issue. On that note however, just make sure nothing could catch and accidentally turn on the light (esp if its a incan). Read many stories about how even the slightest of touch could accidentally turn the light on. Even had a few early Surefires that would come on even if the tailcap was unscrewed to the point that it almost fell off!

Had a C2 that accidentally switched on when I hung up my pants on a chair. If the G2 is a light you use often, a new tailcap would be a worthwhile purchase.

Got rid of earliest incan G2 without lockout tailcap mounted to my AR. It would turn on even if the tailcap, (not the activation button but the tailcap itself) was pushed laterally. Without my knowing it, it would be "on" when the AR went into it's case. Cost couple battery changes before I figured out problem. Replaced with a later version WITH lockout tailcap and that worked fine. Upgraded to LED's later.
