I just received my first Strider knife, a PT CC with light green G10 scales. It is gorgeous, the perfect size, and melts into my hand. I love it. After close inspection, and I mean close inspection, I can't find a flaw in the fit and finish. I know that Strider has been really working on their knives' level of quality, especially on the PT, as I think this is the 3rd or 4th iteration of the pivot, but with all of the people out there complaining, I thought I would find something. Honestly there is very little, if any, difference between this knife and my Sebenza in terms of fit and finish.

Is this a new level of quality from Strider or have the problems from the past been exaggerated?

I havent been in the 'knife game' for long but as far as hits and misses go, I have three Striders, a PT, an SNG and an SJ75. They have all been hits for me, they are quite crude (for lack of a better word) compared to a Chris Reeve so cosmetic screwups are easier to miss on Striders than on a Sebenza but I havent found anything wrong on them. Lockup is solid, centering is solid, no bladeplay.

Only thing I would miss on a CC would be a clip, otherwise Id have one.

Ps. The SJ75 is quite sophisticated looking, less 'crude' than the SNG and PT but I cant find anything wrong with it.

I would say their QC and attention to detail has really improved I have a few SNG's and two SMF's. Two of the SNG and one SMF is a few years old and the others are new this month. I can say that the newer ones are much more refined than my older ones. Not necessarily better, just more refined.

I have a Strdier SNG and it is nearly perfect. When I got it in the mail I inspected the knife for any kind of flaw. Perfect blade centering, extremely sharp, and rock solid lock up, the only thing I found was a very tiny imperfection in the titanium. The imperfection is on the Lock Bar and took me a few days before I noticed it. I am very particular about the condition of my knives (almost obsessive) and this slight problem doesn't bother me. It is so minor that it probably isn't even worth mentioning. In my opinion the overall fit and finish is amazing! The stonewashed blade is beautiful, the flamed titanium is really nice, and the sound (my god the sound!) is...heavenly :cloud9: .

Older Striders had serious quality and F&F issues. Quality issues like development of verticle play, slipping lock faces, etc.
a few years ago, with the release of the AR framelock and their iteration of the Dauntless, they're quality has significantly improved.
Now, with improved lock geometry, and newer releases like the SJ75, I can say that they are muck closer to what they're price is asking for.
For more proof, look at the Mick Strider full sized custom. Not the small one. Now that's a fantastic blade. Lock cut is at 45 degrees to act as a lock stop. Brilliant. Only the pivot and clip screw keeping the knife together.
And a bushing system to top it all off.
