Working knife. Broke tip and stuck on body filler. Reason I cant see paying to much for a tool.

I think it snowed on her birthday just because she loves it.

    ***Disclaimer for the following***
This is a learning experience. It is not finished. If I did this again it would be with a full tang knife. Still sanding to do.[IMG]
MTFatboy I do not plan on using this knife but still want to finish it. I am having a problem finding round bar locally. Where do you or any knife guys buy this and what size?

I'm only just getting started with it myself, but I've looked at and/or bought supplies online at:
    Jantz Supply,
    KnifeKits,
    USA Knifemaker,
    Crazy Crow Trading Post, and
    Knife and Gun Finishing Supply

You should find them easily enough with Google.
AK Adventurer, FL Woods Bum, johnny five, do you have anything to add? Any recommendations on size? I assume, sswift, you are looking for pin stock? Personally, I'd go as small as you feel comfortable drilling and can find, or not pin this one altogether and just use epoxy.

I kind of like the look and really like the idea. Did you shape the handle with a sander?

I used band saw, file and sand paper.
I like it because it is free just time consuming. I have a sling shot planned next.

1/8 pin stock is easy to use and it's cheap. It really depends what you want to do with said project

I try to keep it local. . Or with small business. I have a knack for utilizing things I find. .. like copper tubing from refrigerator coolant tubes. ...I run into alot of odd things when I shop. do a brainstorm is this useful. . In which ways. .. Would it hold up. But I think online pop's is the way to go. He's a small business. With great customer service.

You can usually find an ACE hardware in most U.S. cities, they usually have a large selection of rods from copper to brass to stainless.. Most ACE stores are also franchises, and thus small businesses. I agree with johnny five as to finding materials in places you don't normally look for them. Once you know what you are looking for and work with it a few times, you will quickly start seeing it everywhere you go. Hobby shops are another good place to find rods made out of different metals. Good luck!
