Do it! Great knife, perfect size barring any legal limit, incredible ergonomics, great blade shape, Spyderco fit and finish, at an incredible price. This is one of my top recommendations along with the Ontario Rat 1.
It's a great EDC if you don't mind the fact that it's a little bulky. It's built like a tank, it's virtually indestructible and assuming you could even destroy it, you'd only be out 35 bucks. Probably the best beater money can buy IMHO. For me personally it's a little large for EDC. I've moved on to a Delica and Dragonly I alternate between, but my Tenacious is never to far from reach if I need it. So again, if you don't mind a larger/heavier EDC, it would be hard to go wrong with.
It's a great knife for the money. Probably one of the best if you are adding up features (G10, FFG, 4-way clip, lanyard hole, etc). A Manix2 or Stretch is a more refined knife but twice the money.
My Tenacious is the only knife I'm sure I'll never sell. I've beat it to hell, and it just keeps going. It's a beautifully functional blade at an amazing price. I wish it were a little smaller, but I wouldn't change a thing to be honest. I don't pocket it anymore, but I did for about 2 years. It lives in my bag now, never more than an arms reach away should I need something done that I don't want to mess up my Techno doing.
One of the best knives you can get for the price. I had one but sold it to a friend who needed it more.
I have a Tenacious in my EDC rotation and I use it heavy at work and no issues. you can't go wrong with a Tenacious
It was my first Spyderco that I got almost four years ago. I've accumulated a few more of the higher end ones but I do end up still carrying it once in a while. I really do like the blade shape and it fits in my hand fairly good.
The Tenacious was my first Spyderco. I've bought 4 other Spyderco models since, so it's safe to say it made a good impression on me. It also got me collecting Sanrenmu knives, which is rumored to be the manufacturer of the Tenacious. The 763 is comparable in build quality to the Tenacious but it's under 20 bucks.
I like the blade of the Persistence more too. I see what you mean about being fat, but I like the belly of the blade better. It was my gateway knife. I used it for a few months and it was great. I had to sharpen it all the time though. You'll hear 8cr13mov is "decent", "not bad", "good for EDC", but I think that is rational talk for "I like to sharpen knives" or "I prefer dull knives". The liner is great. Good detent, easy thumb/finger flick deployment. Comfortable. Black goes with everything. Lanyard hole for a Villain. Adjustable carry options. I've since moved on to bigger, better, faster knives, but there is a place in my heart for my Persistence. Good luck on your selection.
