I'm in mourning! I lost my forum blade; the Native 5 Moonglow gid. Anyone care to post a picture of their's?
@jds1: am I correct that those were the 'cigar cutter'? Didn't know it came in a SE; I'm sort of hard pressed to imagine how that would work as a cigar cutter (assuming I'm remembering correctly)? Am Yisrael Chai! Moshe ben David
I believe the Spydercard was just a thin wallet sized knife. Not sure they could be used as a cigar cutter, but I never tried. Jeff
LOL. (1) Never heard of the Spydercard; although I have somewhere seen something about a Spyderco product for cigar cutting.... (2)so... I didn't realize the item in your pic was a Spydercard! Thanks for clearing that up! Am Yisrael Chai! Moshe ben David
I picked up a new Paramilitary 2 again, and got to check out the new Bombshell. What's the consensus on the Bombshell? I wasn't personally very impressed. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Just looked. (1) that's pricey! (2) They made it a 'flash batch'? As in GUARANTEED rare? Is 'flash batch' a new way to spell GREED? I'm disappointed in Spyderco; that's a new low if you ask me... and I am generally a Spyderco fan! (3) In general, just looking at the knife: looks heavy and just not a style I'd buy even at usual price points for Spyderco! Am Yisrael Chai! Moshe ben David
They had one unit left in stock at the outlet, possibly the last one in stock anywhere in the United States. Beautiful stonewashed blade, serialized #883/1200, but it's a basic liner lock and felt rather flimsy for the price. It has a skeletonized titanium liner, olive drab scales, and some ultra rare steel that I can't recall. Made in Taiwan, from what I was told. I felt it's more of a "flex" collectible knife rather than something you'd actually be able to justify carrying. Plus the drop point seems like a hindrance for normal cutting tasks. Probably great for opening cardboard boxes if that's what you're into. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
When I went, I gave myself a limit outside before I even went in. It's really hard once you get inside.
I only own one spyderco knife although I find it in my pocket more than anything else lately Sent from my EML-L09 using Tapatalk
Spyderco actually have 2 facilities in Taiwan. From what I read, this knife came out of the facility in Taichung -- which is generally rated from everything I've read to be neck and neck with the home facility in Golden Colorado for quality in all aspects. As far as the blade steel, that choice is usually made by engineering in Colorado, not the factory... From your description of the knife, I sort of find it even more outrageous that this knife is one of these 'flash batch' knives ... aimed purposely at collectors! Can anyone say 'safe queen'? Blech, sez I! Am Yisrael Chai! Moshe ben David
