Spyderco's first foray into the pen market. http://www.baliyo.com/ Characteristically Spyderco in it's goofy-ness and the fact that I want two, the BaliYo is the next best thing to a true balisong for this California resident.

    Good stuff! :beanie:
That looks like it could be a lot of fun when sitting in the doctor's office, or meetings, etc.
    Thanks for that post.

Looks like a fun, socially acceptable (in this overly PC society we live in) balisong. Count me interested!

I think it's dumb. Although, I have to admit I do want to play with it.

Funny looking pen, with the two rings and all. I'm sure it's a blast to play with though! Count me in, depending on price. :D

Do a google search for "Szabofly." I agree that it's goofy looking, but I can't keep myself from wanting one.

I'd dare the CA State Legislature to level a ban against this, but I don't want to test the depths of their irrationality. :slap:

I want a whole mess of these; making a quick jot will never be the same!

First I thought this was a joke, but considering it's Spyderco, it's probably real... Looks like a fun pen for sure! Any word on the projected cost of these?

It's not now available, and no price has been indicated. The word on the site are from eric glaser. Sal son's. The spyderfly and smallfly are designed by eric.
I contacted the spyderco sales manager to have more information, but he is out of the office. I contacted another guy and i'm waiting for an answer about, price, shipping cost and about when it will be available.

Cardoso, I'd wait until after the SHOT show is over to try to reach anybody at Spyderco.

The fun factor is there, the utility factor is there.....unfortunately that probably means my wallet is there too.

Looks like another "cool - got to have - don't need - but want" item. I'm sure all this equates to some rare type of disorder I'm suffering from. Not sure what it's called, but can get expensive

Just in case anyone else is still interested, I think I'll answer my own question about the cost estimate. Just checked Spyderco's forum and the word from Sal himself is:
I gather the $15 to $50 means they will be producing it with a few different handle materials. It also appears that the tip of the pen will be exposed even when the handles are closed so it's possible to write both open and closed. I think I'd rather have the tip protected by the handles when closed, but we'll see how it works in practice. Since it's a Spyderco, they probably have put a lot of thought into that.

If the tip is exposed when the pen is closed, then what's the point? (pun intended)

Now I'm really confused by this thing.

Me too. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait a few months for the reviews to start rolling in.
