Your thread, Southpaw, has made me order an SKX007. I got it from Creationwatches for £105 (not the made in Japan version which is £25 more expensive but more or less the same) and I have ordered a wjean Super Oyster 20mm taper for £52. All in, it's hardly expensive for a classic watch that's lasted some people 10 years plus.
Here is one with over 5 years of daily wear on it.... has a wjean super oyster bracelet which has held up great.
This thread caught my eye and really peaked my interest in these watches. Enough so that I also have ordered one as of today. This place is so not good for my wallet.
The SKX007 is the perfect diver for modding, since there's many parts available at Yobokies (HK) and Dagaz (US). I gave mine the Flieger w/ ZULU strap treat: Unbenannt von der Wal auf Flickr
why would i want to persuade you on a skx007 when the skz251 is available... monster by ibescottfree, on Flickr
IMHO... That Monster is a yellow Corvette convertible blasting Steve Vai out of its speakers....The 007 is an Aston Martin DBS. Not that there is anything wrong with a Corvette, or Steve Vai for that matter, (I think he was a protege of one of the masters, Frank Zappa, and I think Coldplay ripped off his song). Its not everyone's style.
these are 2 more in my collection...the seiko sports a james bond strap now and the zodiac has the same movement as tag...it has a maratac with white stitches and the wenger has a maratac with blue stitches... wenger by ibescottfree, on Flickr zodiac by ibescottfree, on Flickr
I've been eyeballing the 007 lately as well....may need to upgrade my Seiko 5....Where's the best place to get ahold of one of these?
Seiko 007 (and related 009/173, Monsters etc.) are the absolute bomb. Great watches. However, the (now discontinued) Seiko SPORK has taken over 90% of the 007's wrist time for me... Love the Sinn/aviator style dial, the slightly larger size, and all the positives of any Seiko diver like great lume, good accuracy, tremendous comfort, etc.
