Damnit this place is not good on my wallet. That is a beautiful watch. Where did you buy from?

Thank you. Seiko reeeeeeally hit a home run with this one. No wonder why so many spoke so high of it.
I was obsessing over it for the past two months. I was on WUS quite a while researching it. Honestly, I cannot, cannot recommend this watch enough.

I think I'm going to use the super oyster for formal occasions, the maratac composite for everyday, and the Grey Nato for casual/change of pace. :)

I got it from Long Island watch through eBay. But they also have their own site. Very trusted company.

I'm also considering getting a rally style type of leather strap with white stitching. Nice all around everyday/dress strap

Also take a look at the Hirsch brand of watchbands. They make a huge assortment of bands including the carbon fiber embossed leather one that I am using.

I sprang for the Seiko 009 - same watch but the dial is blue and red - I love it. The factory band is perfect as well. Who knows maybe this summer I'll treat myself of the 007.

Well I've had my 007 for one week now, and after 7 days, it has lost a total of 12 secs.

First day it gained +2 seconds.
Second day it lost -7 seconds (now -5)
Third day it lost another -5 (now -10)
Fourth day it lost -7 (now -17)
Fifth day it gained +2 (now -15)
Sixth day it gained +2 (now -13)
Today it gained +1 (now -12)

So on average it loses about less than -2 seconds a day which is pretty good for an automatic. But my watch is new so I'm sure it needs time to stabilize.

Start leaving it in different positions at night: dial down, dial up, crown down, crown up, 12 up, 6 up. Watches will run faster or slower in different orientations (varies from watch to watch), and you can likely find a position that, overnight, mostly balances out however it is running during the day.

Hmm now that you say that, the first few days I was laying it on its side at 9oclock (hence maybe the negative seconds) then it has been parallel to the ground since (hence maybe the positive seconds)

I think (HOPE!) I have one of these under the tree right now. It will make a terrific companion to the 009 that was added to my collection for father's day this year. I love the way these feel on a NATO strap. Substantial yet amazingly comfortable.

Congrats, great watch. I used to have a 007 and now I have a 173 which I like quite a bit.

I've never been a fan of metal watch bracelets, but I recently discovered the Super Engineer 2 metal strap and promptly ordered one for my SKX173 with some Christmas gift funds that I received. It looks like a beast of a band that will go perfectly with my watch. I picked up the version with the straight connecting ends. I will be certain to post pics once I have it.
