As suggested by Rainy, let's see your Sorlarforce flashlights.
Ahh, loving that someone got to it before me! Pictures of mine coming soon!
Great thread! Got some stuff on order. Will put a pic together
Solarforce L2 with extender and a battery sleeve to fit 2xAA and the L2M:
L2 without extender, and the L2M:
Simple L2P with nice color/even light drop-in. Steel bezels on both ends to take most of the beating, clip doubles as anti-roll feature (never liked the hexa heads much as the aluminium edges get damaged too easily). My perfect light!
Whats that short sucker laying in the front? L2m?
I'll post a pic when mine comes in, before I start cannibalizing it for parts...
YA, AK, that's an L2m. I don't know what's available atm, but you can normally buy the L2m in the short configuration for single cell only or you can buy the modular setup, like what's pictured in the right rear, that will allow more options with regard to the number/type of cells.
I have two of those shorties; there is one that is not pictured that is in my KLR's tool kit. I sort of forget that it is in there some times.
The modular L2m is probably the best value in P60 hosts due to all the doors it opens up for you in terms of Barney Basic mods (broadly defined) for the beginner flashiholic. Speaking of mods that even a Cone can do, the Shortie that is pictured has a GITD boot I installed myself. Pretty impressive, right?
Sweet THC, Thanks. It turns out a lot shorter with the single cell tube than I thought it would!
Yeah, I ordered the modular L2m, with a pre installed XM-L2 U2 drop in(3 mode) and a few accessories, a bezel, different switch, pocket clip... I did seem like a good jumping off point.
Total gateway flashlight.
The only solarforce I have...
L2T SS with triple XP-G2 neutral white solid copper drop-in
Cant let this thread die just yet! Green Solarforce P1:
Did you take out the glass?
Is that the Sportac drop in?
These are my 2 L2Ms.
Bottom one is carried as a shorty with a ALXM2 drop in and a 18340 cell.
Top one is full length and I've removed the glass and inserted the drop in from the front so now the bezel holds it in place. (Too difficult to centre properly so I gave up). This one goes in my jacket for dog park duty.
Edit: moving the drop in as far towards the front of the light as possible was worth it, really improved the spill angle.
Glass is still in place for obvious waterproofing reasons. The drop-in is a custom-build from Kenji, a CPF member from japan. Wasnt cheap compared to the cost of the other parts but even back then i already like the light so much that i decided an investment was worth it and looking at it now, still using the light after 4 years without as much as a single hiccup (and i use it alot) i say it was money well spent. And as you can see from the pics, the steel bezel and tail are really taking the most of the beating leaving the rest of the body in still very decent shape for its age!
My first is still in transit. A gray L2P. Threads like this don't make waiting any easier.
Got my L2M in finally!
My thoughts and impressions are Here.
This all started when I bought this L2N from member KAMM, a while back.
From the moment I received and tried out this light, I just knew I was gonna be hooked, once I started buying SolarForce lights
I just picked up an L2T in stainless steel, on CPF MarketPlace - really beautiful . Going to be installing a triple XP-G2 Sportac in that one. I'm a little concerned about proper heat transfer to the stainless body (may switch the module over to another SolarForce host, if this becomes an issue. May end up installing a Sportac triple Nichia 219, instead.
I've yet to buy one of Vihn's drop-ins , but have read great things about them, and anxious to get my hands on some. They seem very reasonably priced, for what's delivered.
I'm just starting out with my SolarForce adventures. They are addictive, but really well-built lights for the money.
Will post more pictures of "the family", once I've finalized the setup on the newly-acquired L2M and L2T.
Left to Right:
L2M with 5-mode Nailbender XM-L2 1T.
L2N with Erik Kress XM-L7C, 5-level - nice and warm . This was my first SolarForce.
L2P with Nichia 219 (about 200 lumens) - also, beautiful tint.
L2T with Malkoff M361 XP-G2 - super solid.
L2T, stainless steel - Sportac triple XP-G2 S2, 925 ANSI lumen drop-in.
So, No picture, but I did just see that SF is coming out with an L2C which is like 90% wrapped in carbon fiber. Oh, man!
Yeah - I noticed that too; but I'm a little more anxious to get my hands on the Blue and the Gold L2P, and some drop-ins for those. Just picked up my first Nailbender on CPF MarketPlace. Five levels, XM-L2 1T Tint. Can hardly wait to see how it looks!
I've been itching to pick up one of those EDC+ triple Nichia 219 drop-ins, but they seem to disappear as quickly as they become available.
This should keep my small flashlight obsession in check...for a while atleast.
The family continues to grow:
Got another L2T coming in. I'll be installing an EDC+ 3-mode XM-L U2, that I picked up on CPF MarketPlace. I think the L2T is probably my favorite L2 host, so far.
