I like simple watches. I'm not a fan of the sine wave looking feature and the muliple circular gauges on many G shocks. Gimme the time and date in big numbers, a backlight, a decent strap, and an alarm in a rugged case and I'm happy. A stock photo of my current watch. The classic DW5600E-1V. Around $40+. I might go to a more rugged band in the future. http://images.bizrate.com/resize?sq=350&uid=282418979 Hot linked image removed
How do you like it? I really like the watch, except for one thing: The back light needs to illuminate the entire watch face; or the glow-in-the-dark hands need to glow for a longer period of time. When in bed, and I wake up, the GID charge has already depleted so then I hit the button for the backlight instead. Normally not a big deal, but I keep the LED display in Date mode. So I have to switch modes to get back to the time display then hit the light again. One more thing, and I'm sure it's probably just me. Whenever it's dark and I look at my watch, it always seems to be at the 30 minute mark, consequently blocking part of the LED display. Other than that, it's been a great watch. I like analog watches, and it's nice to have the LED to display the date or show the time in 24 hour format. I would like to purchase an all digital model, to wear when I know I will be out doing activities in the dark. However, it's very hard for me to justify buying a second watch when this one works great.
I agree the back light would be better if it Illuminated the whole watch face I don't take mine to bed so can't comment on the GID charge and I also can't say I have noticed the 30 minute mark problem so that maybe is just you . I also have a non G Shock WaveCeptor Illuminator which is all digital so I sort of have the best of both worlds
+1 on the 9300 Mudman. I have the Japan Edition with Multiband and Carbon Fiber tho Mudman by Eva und Michael, on Flickr
Also regarding what to do since you have only two wrists...two of my older G's ride on the spokes of my steering wheel
It is my favorite and I think the negative display on gshocks add a lot to the aesthetic appeal of them.
There's some lovely 9300's out there... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Casio-Mudman-GW-9300K-3JR-Love-The-Sea-And-The-Earth-/320936025154?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item4ab9471c42
I like the MTG-900 for maximizing the data to my face...day, date and time without having to count little segments. It's not very "sexy" though
*sigh* Thanks to this thread, I just pulled the trigger on a G9000MS-1CR. My wrist loves you all, and my wallet hates you all.
