I have a Fenix E01 and I don't much like the form factor. I don't like the lack of optics on something so big on my keychain. When I bought it there weren't any USB lights on the market. Now that there are I'm thinking I might want to replace the E01 with a tiny USB rechargeable.

I know the OP asked about AAA but is a USB one an option?

I can confirm. I just measured mine. The Fenix E01 is 71mm x 14ish mm. Oh, and it's only 13 lumens.

The County Comm (maratac) TPF has been a nice very small light. I do not, however, have an atom to compare though

    • Glow In the Dark Built In reflector ( Easy to find in the dark )
    • LED Type: Cree G2 Emitter ( High Output ) with a life span up to 50,000 hours.
    • Stainless Steel ring around the dome lens for added durability
    • The dome lens has been treated with a AR (Anti-Reflective) coating.
    • Proprietary circuit design features reverse polarity protection and runs off of one AA battery that provides 3 levels of brightness ( Low /Medium / High)

Maybe not the smallest but a great choice is the Nitecore Tip, my wife carries one on her keychain everyday with no problems. It’s rechargable also.

I've made mine even smaller by filing off the keyring attachment nub. It now fits my Altoids tin in the shorter width dimension, which I dig.
