    As per title.

Wants, at least two sections one of which with decent admin, decent padding on back and straps, ideally a bottle holder and if I’m being really optimistic a pocket for sunglasses.

Not bothered about TAD or Goruck - I’m in the UK and they’re way too rich for me. Ruling out an osprey daylite - don’t like how they make the straps, I had a similar berghaus and those wispy straps sucked moisture like you wounldnt believe.

Like the idea of a maxped typhoon. A bit long in the tooth I know, but I had a maxped Luanda clone and I hated the sling bit but loved the layout. Am I missing something obvious?

LBT 8005 day pack. Around 14L I believe, though most that I've read about it think it's later than that. Comes in many color options. Have heard nothing but positive reviews. I'll get one eventually, but just picked up a Tarahumara from HPG to fill the under 20L slot.

Check out the Helikon-Tex Groundhog. I don’t have one but have been looking at picking one up. Not sure if it’s too small for what you are looking for.

I'm here for the responses. Lol....Currently just picked up a Vertx Transit 2 weeks ago to fill this slot. Love the pack, perfect size, but really missing the bottle pocket and glasses pocket. Used the Maxpedition Edgepeak for 6 months with the Max AGR Bottle holder. Like it, but the ambi sling on this pack was very uncomfortable with any weight in the bag. Considering the Riftpoint maybe

It’s one I keep looking at the groundhog as well. This size doesn’t matter too much, I’d almost certainly manage but I’m really not keen on the second compartment with the vertical zip. I’d live with it if there was a third one possibly. Otherwise, it ticks lots of boxes.

Now that’s nice. A bit pricey coming from the US to me but that ticks boxes.

Not familiar with them, but you are right, it's very similar. If it's decent quality is call it a bargain.

This is going to be your best bet...

    Well, it was for me.

One of the few "never sell" packs I have.

It’s a very high price for second hand backpack at tallboy towers!

I thought it might be what you were saying but......
I can't remember the last time I got a Bihn Bag other than from Ebay?
I just look every day quickly until one shows up for a great price and then I pounce on it!
They will show up that way if you keep at it and at least you will know that you can also sell them again with no trouble if you end up not loving it!

UPDATE: bought the viper vertex in black, received today. Initial impressions are favourable but a couple of minor caveats that I wasn’t aware of until now. Pics and a short review to follow.

Remember back in day, PFII and rush 12 would be right up there in choices?

Rush was a bit too big a 24l. I’ve got a cheapy mountain warehouse pack at 23l and that was too big for what I wanted it to do.

Even the F II can be squeezed down to be below 20L, one of the big advantages of that bag is the big selection of possible thicknesses.

Vanquest Katara 16 is a perfect size and since you already have the AGR bottle holder from your maxped sling you can attach it to the side like i do on my Katara 16 check it out if you get a chance...the other bonus is it can convert into a sling if you really want to.

I'm tempted by this bag but it's expensive here in the UK, being able to go from backpack to sling bag is a great idea and the orange lining, every bag should have that.
