I use an Arcteryx Slingblade, 4ltr capacity's big enough for a camera, drinks, snacks, headphones, pad and pen, compact umbrella, and it has an external elastic on the back which I hook my coat through.

Maxpedition Monsoon Gearslinger. Room for plenty of EDC stuff if you don't mind a slinger. Used it for years when commuting by foot downtown.

I second the Nutsac. I have the "man-bag dammit". It's much larger then it looks. It fits my tablet, large phone, keys, knife and a few other things

I have Timbuk2 Catapult. It fits an iPad, small camera, and a load of EDC's.

Sorry it took me forever to post these work and life have been a bit crazy of late. I took these before a trip I had this past weekend. I added the shock cord so I could lash a jacket or my travel pillow to the outside. The other pic has the contents of what I had. I had my iPad mini, some snacks, and some TSA friendly EDC on a GridIt organizer. Let me know if you have any questions. Sorry not sure how to post the pics, so I'll just put in a link.

I use a Maxpedition GTG Versipack. Holds my Nexus 7, Shield 9 and all my other EDC stuff plus a small water bottle. Small enough to stow. The bummer is that it cannot completely close shut, but that's never been an issue yet. Very comfortable to carry.

I was lol'ing at the NutSac name, but that is a :censored: fine looking bag, I must admit.

If you're looking for an ultra cheap option, I have a "Polish bread bag" with a basic shoulder strap I had made for it. They're 10 or 12 bucks on the big auction site and elsewhere. Anyway, I think it's pretty cool. I use it for a truck bag, but it's pretty small and easy to carry. I like the organization & pockets, even if they're old fashioned.

Jack Wolfskin "Warwick Avenue" bag. They come in various colours and have great internal organisation. 3 litre capacity, great quality, and best of all, pretty inexpensive!

I had to look this up. LOL. First site I looked at: "4 pack for $12.95".

The Maxpedition Fatboy and Hazard 4 Tonto might be options worth looking into. A little bit smaller than your current bag and smaller than some of the options listed, but more than roomy enough for a basic EDC.
