Id love to have a mini version of the Rush 12. Something "svelte" but still tough with a similar look. Any such animal? No longer looking for sling bag.

+1 on the Maxpedition Falcon 2, or perhaps the Pygmy Falcon.

My favorites...., Recycled Firefighter 12 hour pack, the Pygmy Falcon 2, or the Goruck Bullet. [IMG]

Looking to replace my Rush 12 for EDC. Too big, too bulky, and the fabric has absolutely no water repelling properties at all.

Anyone has both the MSM Adapt pack and the Direct Action Dust? At their smallest, which one's truly the more compact? I'm leaning more towards the Dust in pencott greenzone but it is a lot more expensive.

Also gonna need to check with you guys about the actual water-repelling properties of both these packs. Bought the Rush 12 following reviews claiming it to be water-resistant at least to some extent, turns out it isn't at all.

I recently upgraded to the Mystery Ranch Spartan but I carried the Pygmy Falcon II for years with no complaints.

Spec-ops brand EDC is a solid, yet small pack (~1376 cu in) but lacks admin storage, camelbak hawg is even smaller (1220 cu in listed for the new ones... older models are a bit smaller at 1160 cu in)

I use the EDC as my day pack for short hikes and find I'm pushing the limits of how small a pack can be and still be useful. I have an older HAWG, which I bought to compare/compete with the EDC, and started to use it for work...I also find it almost too small.

Hard to imagine smaller packs being useful, but I don't know what you want to carry. You may also want to look into children's packs...LLbean has a selection, for example.
