Just an update. I decided to switch the Spacepen to the same side as the preon. I removed the stockman and decided to substitute the spyderco Manbug in ZDP 189. This loadout seems to be approaching perfection for my EDC.

This is the smaller of my two rigs, I'll post the other as soon as I find time...

Massively inspired by two previous posts in this thread, can't remember who off the top of my head but thanks to everyone for sharing your setups!

    Here's the breakdown:

    Black XL Shield

    New Leatherman Charge TTI
    Leatherman Bit Kit
    Pocket Wrench II
    Topeak Ratchet
    Space Pen
    Exotac NanoStriker
    Leatherman Bit Extender
    Olight i3S
    Ultrafire 10440 Battery
    6ft Paracord

Some musings in no particular order:

I own quite a few Leathermans, I got the XL so it could accommodate my Surge, not sure if I will ever carry it in this now but still happy I got the XL as I like the ability to store paracord as a buffer in the bottom.

Tried to get a couple of pics above to demonstrate that when the Leatherman is removed, even though the ratchet and the bit extender are in the main compartment, they are held fairly well in place by all the other gear… Also the battery is sitting next to the torch right against the bit extender, and again if the torch is removed, the battery tends to stay in place.

Thought i'd share a great rundown I found on the Leatherman/Topeak setup HERE

And a simple introduction to using a 10440 with iTP/Olight/Preon HERE

The Pocket Wrench II has got to be the most underrated pocket tool on the forums! Not optional! worth noting that when using it with the bit extender you are able to put your index finger through the wrench hole and wind/unwind much faster than using the ratchet, space permitting… Have ordered a few 4mm orings to put at the base of the bit extender hold it in place.

The NanoStriker puts out great sparks and looks uber tech, really effective firestarter - I also keep 4 Tinder-Quik tabs in my zippered stash belt for emergency use...

Been edc'ing an iTP EOS A3 for years, really didn't like the Olight i3 that replaced it (fixed clip :nah_disagree:) but the i3S is pretty much back on track! If the modes stepped L-M-H instead of M-H-L and the keychain was a bit heftier like the iTP it would be my perfect EDC light.

Many thanks to Metro, my other skinth was fairly customised and he was extremely patient with our communications and pretty much nailed it! (Loadout coming soon!)

I'll be ordering another skinth to replace this one, here's the changes i'll be making (assuming Metro will accomodate):

    - Antique button snaps in stead of the coated black - they were all scratched up in less than a week… I'll be suggesting to Metro that he supplies these as standard and only uses the coated black on request with a warning...

Two rear pen tubes like in the pic below... these aren't listed in the options on the Skinth site - perhaps Metro can let us know if it is possible to add these to any model?

Many thanks again to the community for all the inspiration and info!

I'll take credit for that:rolleyes: Your set up is pretty close to mine:D
:censored: nice load out!! I love it!![/quote]
I forgot how the LM bits can't slip through the Topeak ratchet. I think I'll change my work load out to include them and leave my VIC bitcase in my L shield...that way I only have to move my Topeak from one to the other, depending on if I'm at work or not.

Forgive my ignorance but is the topeak compatible with the lm bit kit?

Yup...the Topeak is only loadable from one side, unlike the Vic ratchet, so the LM bits don't slip through:) They do stick out a bit so you can't put you thumb on the backside of the topeak ratchet, but the LM bitcases are so slim you can carry more bits in your Skinth:)

Well thank you very much, FredEx and SAKPlumber. Due to your reckless postings I now have a Ratchet Rocket, LM bit kit, & LM extender on the way.

Please be more careful next time.

(Now where was that Strider thread? Hmmm...)

The pocket clip on the 1xAAA Spotlight Shifter is kinda weak for pocket carry but it fits nice and snug in the straps on the front of my XL MK2:D
