I've seen a lot of cool, elaborate bit drivers, but most are way more than I need. What I haven't seen is a simple tube design with a magnetic socket for ¼" bits at one end and a threaded cap at the other end to hold maybe 3-5 bits. The 80-20 rule would suggest that a few key bits would handle most of the day's work. Anything out there?

You've got me, I'm in,... I'd say it would be easy to make for someone with the right skill set. I think it would sell due to its K.I.S.S. Nature. Maybe put an extension on the screw cap end that would fit into a leatherman bit exchanger so it works as an bit driver extender too. It could have a hole on the extension for key ring/ lanyard/ etc if one does not wish to use in conjunction with an MT. How much and how long do I have to wait for someone to make it? :)

ETA: I just realized that the MT extension adapter is a dumb suggestion as it being on the threaded cap end,... One would have a tough time tightening or loosening depending on the threading because it would simply unscrew the cap when any real torque is applied :( well if I'm going to say something dumb, might as well go all out and post it in a public forum ;) I'm still in though!!

Yeah is it cool or what? Doesn't have a magnetic tip but a (imho even better) springclip thing that holds a steel ball in a hole that keeps the end-bit from falling out, the bits behind it make sure it cant be pushed in further. Pocket clip is perfect as well.

Now the downside; I got this one as a promo-gift about 15 years ago and have never seen one like it since XD But then again, i have not been looking for one as it has never failed me once so could be that you might be able to buy something like this somewhere still. Its a simple thing, you cant use a lot of force with it so it doesn't break easy so once you find one it should last you a lifetime. I have replaced the entire bit set a couple times by now tho. Pretty awesome piece of kit.

The Kraftform Kompakt has a big (and comfortable looking) grip handle that rules it our for Toollet or pocket carry. The mininch tool pen is close, but pretty big and heavy for what I'm after. Westerdutch, that thing is right on target. I'd be happy with shorter-than-pen length and giving up a bit, but that's what I've got in mind. Can't imagine I'm the only one wanting one...

It tastes a lot like the innards of a kitten pot pie but sweeter and without the chunks, cuz that would make it catjam

Well, looks like I need to sharpen my Google-fu. A bit more searching turned up the Kershaw Torx Tool. Exactly what I was after. Ordered one for $8 from a popular online mega-retailer. CountryComm lists them, but they are out of stock.

Wow very nice find! I'd love to know if it will be able to hold standard sized bits.

I had intended to buy one of those previously, but had been warned off by a few colleagues. Please let us know what you think once you get one in your hand.

I'm not expecting the world and only intend it for light duty. There are a few pesky screws in my routine that can't be Loctited, but need tightening now and then. I've read that it does take ¼" bits, but that the ones included are short and that's why it holds three. It has been reported that it will hold only two "regular" size ¼" bits. More when mine is in hand.
