I loved the simple, clean look of the old Goruck Slick packs. Since those are gone, what else should I be looking at?

Very little to no MOLLE or extra webbing, tough exterior fabric and maybe a few pockets?

    Laptop pocket not a necessity.

I second the Recycled Firefighter options.

You could also try bogear. They make packs that look very similar to goruck bags but they have a custom program. I bet they'd make a slick one for you.

I really think you describe GORUCK. Recycled Firefighter is probably the next closest, but I continue to see questionable customer service experiences with them.

Any links to these customer experiences? I might want to buy from them again, but would like to check out the concerns first.

No it started with SwissArmyZippo some years ago. I don't follow or keep track of the company. Most recently, I was waiting for class to start at krav maga and read something and customer service experiences. I can't qualify it, sorry.

Recycled firefighter looks cool. My only concern is in videos the backpacks sit very low on back which would be bad ergonomics. Unless the guys in videos were wearing them loose. Anyone have one of these can confirm?

I have the 12hr Battalion and find it very comfortable. What do you look like? I'm slightly taller than average and of slender built.

Yeah thats wild, I was on their site recently and seemed functional, but I guess being in Australia maybe made it tough. Unless the Chinese or Japanese market hits Australia itself is a small pool of potential customers I guess. That's a shame anyways I thought they were a cool company.

I'd still consider GoRuck. The molle is super minimal and I use mine all the time. Never had a question or weird look.

Thanks for the suggestions for Recycled Firefighter, I really like that Battalion pack they have on offer and the Chief is pretty sweet too. Gonna watch some YouTube videos on those to try to make up my mind.

The GORUCK Rucker still looks good to me too but the one I really want would be a slick Rucker without the molle or arrowhead logo.

I just prefer the sleeker look with less webbing and straps.

On another thread someone mentioned the vertx gamut plus. Might fit your bill.
