I'm gonna be working in a facility with many moving parts that could, potentially, get me hurt. Would a whistle help to get attention, if needed? And, if so, anything super small and cheap?
Yep, a whistle could be helpful. That Nitecore whistle that several people have posted would be fine. There are much smaller ones out there, too. And, if you want to go with something more upscale there are those sterling silver ones that I've posted about. Here's another example of one I have, a wolf:
I don't have the money for that stuff, and if I lost it, it would hurt. I've read a few reviews about the Nitecores plastic insert falling out, and people saying the Fox 40 is a better one. I'm not an expert, by any means, but the Fox 40 micro whistle seems like the best bet. I'll hate the size, but i'll welcome the peace of mind.
I have the Nitecore Ti one, small, thin and it is high piercing loud. Key chain hole, it's on mine right now.
Hi Tony Sal -- don't recall if I already emailed you about that collecting thread, but here it is: http://edcforums.com/threads/what-else-do-you-collect.128377/page-16#post-2433555
Very nice guys, I wish it was easier to get this kind of thing in South Africa. Enjoying the thread. Sent from my GT-I9190 using Tapatalk
Just realized I have to look for my survival whistle- OD green, large 'pea' on a cord, used in liferaft kits too?
Yeah, I've got one of those, Tony Sal ... surprisingly they last forever! Here's another sterling silver one: This one has red garnets for the eyes.
Does my Boatswain Pipe count? Have 2, issue- nothing fancy- I guess its s signaling whistle. /watch, C6A will probably post several pics! Lol/
Nope, Tony Sal, no photos of Bosun/Boatswain pipes. I do have one or two of them, but I think they're packed away in storage with some of my 'Naval Services' collection. (My wife is pretty understanding about all of the stuff I've accumulated, but the overflow is in an indoor, climate controlled building several miles from here: I have about 500 boxes there with more goodies. I haven't been there in a few weeks so might have to head over there later this week!)

I thought I saw one in the display window of a local tobacconist's shop. I might have to go back there and check it out.
