A guy in Thailand makes these in stainless or in Sterling and sells them through eBay: He has a number of different skull designs, and several animal ones (lion, tiger, owl, etc.). Really pretty cool stuff.
Here's mine. Very compact, loud and I always have it on me. A true EDC... On a serious note, everybody should learn to whistle with their fingers. In case of emergency, it's always handy to be able to get attention without any tool or gadget... Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a nice and loud TI whistle but it's great to be able to make some noise without it.
I actually do know how to whistle with 4 fingers and with 2 fingers, regular lip whistle and through my teeth. I also know how to whistle with the cap of an acorn. I hope one day to make the Guinness Book of World Records for the most whistles in a personal collection. I AM WHISTLE-MAN!
I have the Duracel one in the lower right corner. It's an Amazing Race promotional item. It's got a little compass in the top, and when it's unscrewed there's a little mirror in the cap. You can stuff matches or other goodies inside the compartment. Kind of neat for a cheapie giveaway. I also have some Oscar Meyer "Wiener Whistles" that I got when the Wienermobile came to Ft Campbell Kentucky (right before I got out of the army).
You're welcome, Sirvive. He doesn't post them all at one time, but the quality on these whistles is amazing! Also, here's the link to the British company, J. Hudson, who makes the Acme Whistles: http://www.acmewhistles.co.uk/xcart/home.php Acme is the company that makes the classic British Bobby whistle. And, here's a link that shows the Martyn Gilchrist 'Whistles' book: http://www.alibris.com/booksearch.detail?invid=11885740187&browse=1&qwork=7456631&qsort=&page=1
Thank you so much Cobra 6! I checked out all the links you provided. AWESOME! So many whistles more to go! And the book I'm gonna get!
You're welcome! There's also an online "Whistle Museum" that a guy in Israel manages ... Some really cool ones on there, too ... Unfortunately, none are for sale. Just type that title into Google and it will come up. By the way, the Gilchrist book is available on several sites ... Last I checked even Amazon had it. He wrote three books on the subject, but the one on Police whistles is a little esoteric.
I had one, a plain ti Atwood. Then I sold it, regret doing that, and found another. This one is slightly anodized and finished...
, i love the look of the one on the left omg its an awesome whistle, the bead accompanies it perfectly. (the one on the right needs some more patina to be as cool as the first one , but the bar is set high). Hope my post makes sense.
Thanks! I totally agree with you. The whistle and bead on the left came already with "patina finish", not sure exactly what he uses but it looks really cool. The dark finish now wears off a little on the more exposed parts which increases the contrast. The Atwood whistle has in fact already quite a lot of natural patina compared to what it looked like when I got it but in comparison the TT whistle is much darker of course.
I see, the atwood looks almost new when compared to the steampunk/ancient look of the TT. It deserves to be carried in somekind of leather pouch with heavy patina and brass details !
