I have one that still works as well. It's always a great conversation pieceā€¦and it's in color with those glowing red players!

I have a Gameboy Pocket. Slightly bigger screen and much easier to see than the original or color. I would go for that instead.

Sent from a Galaxy Note 2 far far away...

Nice! The ZX-Spectrum was a mythical game system to me. I use to drool at the pictures.

This thread makes me want to go dig up my old electronics (mostly games) but I don't feel like going on a mission through my spider closest and shed :)

I didn't get mine 'till they were a couple of years out of date. I've always been at least one console behind, to save (a lot) of money. I preferred the Atari 800XL I had to the Spectrum though. I wouldn't mind another of those.

Yep, still works. Part of me wishes MP3 players didn't catch on so fast. I feel like I barely got much time to use this thing before the iPod hit the market. It was a cool in-between gadget. Digital, yet sort of analog in the discs (which felt like small cassettes). Physically swapping out the discs to change albums. It was awesome. :)

If you still have any interest in one, check out eBay. They go for cheap, like $10-20. Worth picking up just to play around with. I'm going to hold on to mine and in a few years I'll just hand it to my kids and say, "See if you can figure out what this thing does."

Bringing out this thread to celebrate vintage gadgets:
My first Palm, bought in 2002 (?). I did everything with it,even when it was out of technological fashion: Listing my DVDs,store trainschedules, rating restaurant, shopping lists, downloading and reading articles offline on the train... After some year with mobile phones getting better i was tired of carrying it with me and the hassle when migrating data between computers and devices. I cut down everything except a minimal mobile phone. But then again some year later, they got me again, with cheap smartphones.

My favorite gamedevice. Nintendo DS Lite. I bought it after being so frustrated about my 1. Gen PSP,with it dissatisfieing PS2 portations, who were not handheld optimized and generally not goog for playing on the go. The Nintendo DS was better for travelling with its longlasting battery and calmshell case. I use it from time to time.
Nintendo Gameboy Micro. After it failt in the market the price was cut to 50% and i bought one, just for fun.Used it 2 times.

Some gadgets i couldn't resist when i see them for a cheap price. Not used by me.

    Psion Clone from Oregon Scientific
    [IMG]
Sharp Calculator PC 1500 (with printer somewhere)

Not shown here:The countless mobile phones i owned, broke, sell or gave away. Some of them where really unique. Also somewhere here, a Atari Portfolio

Nokia N-Gage QD,nice try from nokia in the early 2000s,but with competition from Nintendos Gameboy Advance and its huge gameslibrary and rumors about Sonys PSP it failed in the market

HP OmniGo 100.... a lot of current devices could take a lesson about keyboard ergonomics from this little device.

Powered by 2 AA batteries in the spine and a CR2032 backup battery on the left edge of the display half of the device.
