you've convinced me to stick with and add a BIC to my EDC. and Congrats on being smoke free!
High-polish chrome Zippo with a Thunderbird butane insert.
Just got these in the mail yesterday!
Are you sure he's a real jeweler? Perhaps the store is a for something else...
I put my old Zippo lighter away when I stopped smoking 30 years ago. Recent web postings and youtube.com video clips made by Zippo collectors peaked interest in my old lighter.
The Kennecott markings on the lighter are actually engraved, not merely painted. Kennecott is a copper company which has been in business since 1915. According to information provided on the Vintage Cigarette Lighters web site, this lighter was manufactured between 1950 and 1957.
A local search for genunuine Zippo lighter fluid and replacement flints and wicks led me to a small shop with a Tobacco sign overhead. There were more crack pipes and drug paraphernalia inside than tobacco related products! The shop stocked a few Zippo lighters and supplies, including leather cases for belt carry.
After poking out the remains of the old flint using a long needle, I installed a new flint, trimmed the old wick, and fueled up. The lighter works as good as new.
I'm thinking about upgrading to a Zippo Copper and a Z-Plus torch insert. Can anyone comment on the Z-Plus?
Some of these need some service
I carry a pseudo-BIC and a IMCO Triplex 6700, but if I have some money to burn I’d like to get this one. But I would have to find a shop in Germany or at least in Europe, because shipping otherwise would probably be too much to make it a reasonable choice.
I ordered this off amazon. Not sure what shipping would be over seas.
In the end I would pay about 40 € for it. Too much for an item I’d probably buy just because of its look (which is cool, though).
Just found this one again, its a lighter that I got years ago, came clipped inside a cheap $5 cigarette case… Its small, light and feels verrry cheap—It is. But, its a great lighter, especially when turned all the way up;
Thats NOT all the way up either... but any higher and the gas spray blows out the spark, instead of lighting... It will only do that for about 10 to 15 seconds on a full tank, but with flame like that, who cares??
Let there be FIRE!

Can't comment on the Z-plus but the Thunderbird butane insert I have is pretty great.
