In spite of the fact that TOPS has some of the wackiest names (well, Spyderco can be bizarre as well) for their knife lineup, it's an American company that prides itself in the Made in the USA ethos that very few manufacturer's of mid-tech knives can claim. They are quite popular in the military, yet I never see sub-forums dedicated to this brand.

If you own a TOPS knife, post a pic and tell us why you like them.

Sorry, no pic but I own a TOPS "Smoke Jumper" with green & black linen micarta scales. A beast of a wood prepping blade. I don't know why more folks don't try/own TOPS, it must be the stigma of having made some knives used in movies and people don't think they are a serious blade company? I have well over 10 TOPS knives on my "To Get" list, so I will be getting more from TOPS.

Dawn Warrior- Names terrible but the knifes AWESOME!
Baghdad Bullet- My favorite small fixed, It's like a sharp crowbar, there is nothing I wouldn't do with this knife.
Chico- Neat little fixed for the pocket, neck or Keys.

Tops Knives is not only a great American Company that stands by their products, I really feel that their R/D staff gets what a particular knife should feel like and be able to do. They have something for everyone;).

I am not an operator, have never been, and at this juncture in life, it is highly unlikely (barring a drastic shift in the time-space continuum) that I will be in the future.

While there are a few TOPS blades I would be interested in, they are not something I would drop coins on without handling them first.

Way too many of their blades would be illegal in my neck of the woods. Another large portion of them, while legal.... probably would raise the eyebrows of the local constabulary and would lead to instant negative bonus points in any legal action.

It's not so much a negative perception due to the inclusion of their movies as the fact that the company hammers their marketing resources on a fairly narrow target audience.

    ATB,
    Sam

P.S. There are also some of their blades/tools that makes one's eyes roll... in trying to eke out the most functionality per square inch of metal, the have designed some questionably dangerous items.

I have to admit, I contemplated the "Bartender Defender" for a little while, but I am not so sure I wouldn't cut myself while using it as a bottle opener.

I have the TOPS B.O.B. "Brothers of Bushcraft". A very nicely waited knife well made and nice looking with it, not had it long though and yet to use it in earnest. I left the sheath on as Warchild suggested, just in case (But I've taken the ferro rod off)

I would have shown you pictures if I had a Tops knife. I've been longing for the XcEST Alpha for quite some time now...

I'm really pleased with the Brothers of Bushcraft. I haven't had it long (only got to work out with it in my wooded lot), but it will be my go to outdoor/woods/camping knife. I got to meet a bunch of the guys from TOPS at the Blade Show...nice guys that seem passionate about their work.

    Not the best picture:

They really make some great designs, a guy at our gun show had them and I almost got the xcest alpha with kit. Still want it or the bushcraft.

What indigo said. They are big heavy scary tacticool people killing knives. I'd love to play with one, but I'd never EDC it.

The only models that look close to reasonable are fixed blades which would be illegal here.

Having recently acquired the Mil Spie 3, I find it to be a more substantial knife then it's cousin, the ESEE 3; both are manufactured, BTW, by Rowen....most folks are not aware of that.
