Just had lunch with my boss from a previous job. He knows I'm a knife guy, and brought me a present:

Two more blades that I've had around, finally get some spalted hackberry. The chute knife still has some stainless rounding to be done, the big skinner is mostly finished.

That is a great present! I have one in sand without the saw. Very beefy knife that will take a ton of abuse. There's a few great torture tests on YouTube if you're wondering what it'll stand up to.

Here's a combination of knives that I haven't seen before, so I'm sure someone'll appreciate it. It's my Benchmade 275 Adamas with plain edge blade and my brand new Spyderco Military in digital camo with black plain edge blade.

I'm used to carrying a big and heavy knife like the Adamas, so the Military almost feels too light and, dare I say it, dainty. Probably the first time some has uttered those words. It is definitely a Spyderco through and through and well built. I sharpened and lubed it, also adjusted the tension in it, so now it's ready for EDC carry.

What do you think of the Onslaught? The one you display in that finish is the one I look for and will sooner or later find. Would you say it's a good entry into Benchmade for a medium use folder? Thanks.

The Benchmade above is the large Onslaught, but you do get a mini model.
With that finish and modification is does work well. It is a bit of work though

-1st the tip out the box is almost needle thin, so snapped about 0.35" to 0.4" off and re-profiled.
    Blade tip is now thicker.
-2nd the blade looks scary imo so flattened the spine to make it more presentable
-Lastly put jimping and grooves on the handle to improve my grip. (All you need is a file)

The full flat grind makes it a terrific slicer, but one snag is the spyder hole weakens the blade a tad.
I can flex the blade holding the handle and blade near tip on spine

It depends on what you want in a knife but imo the Doug Ritter Griptillian is a better choice as an entry level Benchmade knife
