My 2 new Black beauties (just bought them yesterday). The serrated one (fake Benchmade) is so sharp I almost cut myself at the store while flipping it a bit before buying it.Interestingly enough, the serrated one has a Batangas latch, instead of the usual Manila latch on the bite handle :

They both flip like a dream.

The Benchmade 42 is a very expensive and valuable knife. You are very lucky. I guess I will never afford an original one, but there are good quality fakes for almost any knife these days at less than half the price of the genuine knife.

I'll have one of these on me every day depending on the situation and where I'm at. Currently looking for a serrated edge to throw in the mix.

It is up to the one who is making the choice to decide if he/she wants the original and not a counterfeit. It's a matter of ethics and/or taste.I'm not so worthy, I admit, but I don't live in America, the land "where everything is possible and dreams come true".I don't blame anyone who wants to buy the real thing, nor do I necessarily recommend buying fakes. They're just more accessible for my conditions and I'm simply expressing my own opinion and choices. If one day a genuine Benchmade or any other renowned brand would turn up (no matter the type of knife) in a store at a reasonable price for me I would buy it if I like it.Period.

    Thanks, GriffinHawks.
To Somber : It's a good thing that you are learning by yourself how to sharpen your blade.Priceless.I don't have a lot of knowledge on the subject but I can put a fairly decent edge on a regular blade.

I don't know what the definition of "fake" or "counterfeit" is , but I live in "another " country too, and have been using no-name or strange-name knives and multis for many years. They do not say "Leatherman" or "Buck" , so I don't think they are counterfeit. They are just cheaper brands.

Depending on your demands and life style many of them are OK.
Many of them are with me for years. So, why to buy a $50 knife when all needed is to cut a rope or open a box ??

    Off course, YMMV

That's a lot of knife you have there. Could we see the other side of the scales. Rick Hinderer XM-18 and Strider SnG, right?

Edit: Right, just saw them in the other thread with description. ;)

This is one that I made about 3 years ago. It has a minor flaw so I am FORCED to keep it as much as it pains me to have to add a knife to my collection. Consequently I have EDC'd it much of the time since then.
