Even easier: If you are above 18 and you are not prohibited of carrying a weapon, it's considered a weapon, but legal. The promoter of an event can but prevent you from participating or force you to leave it at the gate.

Your POV is often quoted, but I had a conversation with a qualified person at the ministry of the interior which told me the above.

I live in Germany in a very small village, I often carry knives I´m not allowed and I never have been searched by the police. But I think I would never do this in a city like Hamburg for example. There is still a bad feeling and the rules are .... ridiculous. Some examples:
I´m allowed to carry a one-hand locked blade when I have a good reason. That´s it. There is nowhere defined what is a good reason. So I can say to the policeman: "I like to cut my apple with it now". It could be a good reason the one day but a civil violation the other day.
I´m not allowed to wear a knife with a blade length of a nail cutter when it can be openend with one hand and has a lock (Kershaw Cinder for example) but I´m allowed to jump around with a ESSE-4 at my belt.
Removing the thumb pin don´t makes a one-hand knife to a two-hand knife always. It could still be possible to open it with one hand. If it´s a two-hand knife from the beginning it don´t matter often if it´s possible to open with one hand or not. But the best is to have an official permission from the German Federal Office of Criminal Investigation (BKA) like it´s available for some knives.
This law is for the bad guys only they said at the beginning. No problems for the nice and friendly knives collectors. And now? Now you get problems cutting a birthday cake in the park at a picnic, searched by three policemen and finally taking the knife. I just read this story in a German forum. Ridiculous!

    Sorry for off-topic ...

Yeah I can feel your pain, bruh! Not sure about it, but tell me t'was the cry baby Green Party and I will believe it.

Some people just don't get the point. The real "bad guys", they'll buy what they want and carry what they want, illegal or not. As they are on the wrong side anyway, most of them prefer an handgun. But yeah, if you wanna buy a kitchen knife in Germany you need a special permit from the BKA to transport it home, in a special locked container with a yellow warning sign and a police officer as your guard.

[IMG]always thought this was a goofy looking blade until I held one in my hand . Wow what a great stout well made knife with a very functional blade for around $25. Hard to beat that loving this one a lot.

Not that I need it, but gives me just one more reason to avoid any trips to Germany!

We could maybe say a lot about each other's country, but we shouldn't - in here at least.
