Sometimes, it's hard to be the best friend of a 6 years old boy ^^ (it requires a lot of patience)

Meet Nara. She's almost 3 months old, hard to believe she was nearly black a month ago.

Even though she passed away at only 5 in 2008, I always include what will likely be the best dog of my entire life...

    Maggie Moo:

We also just lost our cat after 18 years of being ruled by her.

    Now my current pets...

Ellie (named after the now deceased well known shar pei breeder from whom we got our Maggie Moo seen above):

    Petunia:

and finally our boy, Georgie the Corn Snake:

As you can probably tell, our favorite breed in the Chinese Shar Pei. I feel like the learning curve is so steep that I'm afraid to start over with another breed. I grew up with a Basset Hound and we also had goldens.

I once saw a woman walking a Samoyed at a truck stop and I just about tackled her getting to the dog to meet it. FANTASTIC pup. So happy and playful and joyous. What a rock star.

My first girl, Maggie Moo, was so strong and quiet. Always had this wicked security awareness going on. If either of us tripped or fell, she would immediately come over and stand over us and not leave. She would have taken a bullet for me I have little doubt.

Once, we were literally walking out of our townhouse in New Jersey and getting into the car to drive Maggie Moo and the cat to Houston where we were moving. My realtor's son-in-law just started walking in the door without knocking or waiting to be let in (lord only knows why he chose to do this) because he was going to manage an open house for the property while we were gone. Super nice guy, but bad decision. I literally had Maggie Moo on a leash and was walking toward the front door he was coming in to. Maggie went ballistic security dog and while she NEVER bit anyone in her life, she nipped at his private parts! Talk about embarrassing. I was horrified. I tried to get him to let me buy more pants (there was a tiny hole). Thank God she didn't get a hold of anything attached to him.

I'm a supporter of adoption for animals. Our cat was a rescue as is my girl, Petunia.

It's been great seeing everyone's pets. Thanks to everyone for sharing. :smile_coffee:

    Our tribe,
Backstory on the second cat that showed up one day. She showed up on our property one summer day, we live in the country. We tried to find an owner in case someone was looking for her. We realized soon enough she was probably "dumped". We have foxes and coyotes so we took her in and gave her food and water, day she showed up it was near 100 degrees. We got her fixed and all her shots soon after we realized she was dumped off.

Someone replied to one of our lost cat flyers we had at a vet's office. She was not the owner but was looking for a cat to get. We figured with four dogs and one cat we had enough critters so when this lady replied looking for a good mouser we talked with her. We did not want to just give the cat to anyone so we tried to make sure the cat was going to a good home. Everything seemed good to go so the lady came and got the cat. We only had the cat about 3-4 weeks when the lady came and got her. The lady lived another seven miles past us further out in the country.

The day after the lady picked up the cat a major wild fire broke out about four miles on the other side of where this lady lived. The fire spread rapidly and was burning in the direction of the lady's property. As the fire burned closer towards her home even we had thick smoke down at our place. Well one week after that fire started I went to leave for work one afternoon and as I stepped out on to the front porch there sat the cat. I went back in the house and had the wife come out and see. I told the wife well, I guess this is where she wants to be. The lady never called or came looking for her so she stayed. After the distance that cat travelled over a week's time I didn't have the heart not to let her stay. She earns her keep to, she is a great mouser.

Pekingese my wife had before we met.
