Here's some better pics....
I see one of my EDC idols puts the 3 screws in when not using a clip, so I guess Im ok doing it
This is a Kershaw Deer Hunter 1030TF. Not to be confused with the Antelope hunter, a very similar knife also by Kershaw.
I gotta say, this one was a challenge. After I cut the handle off of it I was sorely disappointed. Full tang yes, just not as much as I wanted. But hey, handle was off, so what was I to do? I never actually used a dremel as a router before. Blew the original scales when my plunger slipped and I cut too deep. So this is actually 1 shade lighter than I had originally planned.
Forgot to get a pic of the scales routed. But here is the slabs all glued on.
Basic shaping done.
Aannd, aside from some touch ups, a good cleaning and making a sheath for it, here it is.
Hope you enjoy!
Very talented! Nice work- cant wait to see your sheath ideas- lanyard hole .....?
Still debating the lanyard hole. For now sheath is just going to be a fast one made from thin thermoplastic.
Thanks for the compliment!
Doesn't look like much but the work went on the inside.
Polished liners and blade pivot area, flatted phosphor bronze washers, 20thou a side oiled and re-assembled with an Allen head screw and a spare phosphor bronze washer, just to make up the space the original pivot screw took up.
I've had flippers costing many times what the Enlan did and they don't open as quickly or as smoothly as this one.
As you can see it's a user.
I saw the scale pattern on the Kershaw Junkyard Dog and WOW
I love it. I am wondering if the same pattern style would work well on G10 scales, because I am considering doing this pattern on my Manix 2.
Any input from yall is appreciated.
EDIT: I just noticed that the scales on the Junkyard Dog are G10, so it should work. Input is still welcome.
The mods were done by Lazy Lizard, not me, but this is now, hands down, the sexiest cheap knife I own.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk... typos are guaranteed!
The Kershaw OD-2 is such a small knife that it needs a lanyard but it doesn't have a hole for it.
Time for a change.
I have a question for those who mod SAKs. I want to make some G-10 scales for my Deluxe Tinker and rejig the tool loadout some. What screws do you use to hold it together? None of the ones I've seen on knife supply sites so far look right.
trying my hand at bonding some G10 together. Here is my practice piece:
so far, other than being kinda messy, I am loving this! I will be doing some new scales for two more tenacious with two colors I am putting together myself!
One will be this red pearl/black combo, the other will be an orange/ranger green combo! Stay tuned!
What is that^ ???
New for 2015 it's a BM808.
Well, except for the LSCF scales that is.
It comes with black G10 scales.
5 minute epoxy
Lol. Thats my go-to as well.
JB Kwik is what I have been using for awhile now, it is great epoxy, I just saw it in clear a few weeks ago too.
