I have about 6-7 unfinished businesses. Starting from new handles for a chopping knife to new scales for the OD-2 or a self-made letter opener made of cf laminated on spring steel to one more package knife... There's always something new to start
That is true. As far as the ZT goes. As long as the pocket in the scale matches the pocket in the liner, you'll be all set. I will drill all my holes and such first. Then coat the surface of the liner lightly with grease (except the pocket, leave that grease free). Mount the hand made scale onto the liner with out the torsion bar installed. When you take the scale back off; all of the scale except the spring pocket will be coated in grease. There's your outline.
I didn't make any of these, I don't have the talent. The Hinderer also had a detent mod to enable it to properly flip, which it now does perfectly.
Has anyone here done a mod (handle scales, deep-carry clip, etc.) for a CRKT folding Hissatsu? If there's already a thread on it, I'm happy to go read. Thanx!
Shhhh, trade secrets! ok, that's it, you are out of the union. Personally, I used layout dye. I find grease and such too easy to inadvertently wipe off. Hold over from my steel fabrication days...
by the way, if no one has seen a broken tension spring from KAI, this is what is looks like (well, this is what the one from my 0566 looked like...) The broken (after only owning two weeks from new) original on the bottom and the provided replacement on top.
wow, so do you think this is an anomaly or is these spring just not made well? I have flipped mine open a lot to get it to loosen up, and cause it is my first flipper and I really like it! But I hope it doesn't cause it to break!
Tried making scales for my Spartan , wasted 2 hours in the garage as I am a skill-less scale maker :/
true statement. So far I have been using a dremel and some other basic tools, clamps, sandpaper, etc. I think it I decide to get too intricate, it may require some equipment I would need to acquire. YouTube helps!!
I don't have a dremel so I had to make everything with a saw. But as far as finishing and clamping , I have anything I need
ok, I use a saw like this one and a file, that is the quickest for me, cant wait to see what you make. Be sure to post it here
