Kershaw Chill. I did an acid etch and stone wash to all of the metal parts, then drilled the G10 to match the holes in the liners. Breathed new life into my good ol' blade!

I "modded" this one by prying a door open and using it as a draw knife

Very nice work. And very good decision to leave the other scale for the second time. I still must find time someday to finish my cf scales cos milling out that flipper part is not the easiest thing.

I wish could show such a nice finished mod like you ;)

Hey, thanks! When I saw the drilled out liners I figured there were worse things I could do than play with a $20 knife.

Definitely thought that last one was a nail clipper before I zoomed in.

Cool work on the Rat. How did you make that false edge look, or is is ground that way? And what did you use for etching? I thought from etching and stone washing the logo would disappear...
When will you make a scale mod? :bundle-of-joy_throwvertical:

    Thanks Adahn,
The false edge was achieved by placing the liner directly next to the blade in the PBC etchant. The PBC can be had at Radio Shack for about 11 bucks. I was surprised that the logo was still there myself. I dipped my Boker Exskelibur II then stonewashed it and the logo completely disappeared.

An Old Hickory that is now a poor man's leuku? A bush butcher? What ever you want to call it. Handle is made out of an old flannel shirt cut into strips and soaked in fiberglass resin, Blade is cold blued but in need of touch ups after I reshaped the handle a little more.

Thanks for doing that the solution you're using is the same one i used. I curious on how it would turn out on the rats. I thought they painted their logos on. Atleast thats how it looks on the black blade one.

The logo is laser engraved, my was the black painted one also, I just took a razor blade to the paint and it peeled off with a little effort. I dipped the liners, clip and blade in the PCB for 30 min, stone washed for 30 then hand shake for 5 min.

Either you’re living alone, or somebody will ask where the hole came from, possibly using strong words …:running:;)

I use ferric acid and I have a non-black version. I was thinking about only stone washing it, but maybe a short acid bath will do a better job.
Also I want to put the clip in the acid to etch the logo and then stonewashing it. That paint goes off way too easy, better get rid off it.
Just used the RAT 2 while travelling. Very good slicer and you can even use it to spread your butter ;)
I really like the 2 as an edc blade but for travelling I must get the bigger version. Cutting bread with the small one is a pain esp. with these big thumb studs.
Now waiting for the Ganzo G-717-Y. Maybe after removing the studs on this one that problem will be gone...
