I'm surprised at how few Aviator series Gshocks I see. Do you guys just not like them or is it the price?
I had one, the orange version. FOR ME...the buttonology was to complicated for time zones, etc. that drive motors to move the hands as opposed to straight digital ones. I ended up selling it. FOR ME...g-shocks just scream digital, not analog. Additionally the analog hands seemed to be always covering the digital information displays, I had a g-100, and even with skeleton hands just did not work for me.
I had one too - great watch, but the interface required more time to learn than I had interest. Really proved to be a pain travelling. If they simplify the interface, I'd probably pick up another one.
So then, what would you guys recommend that has a compass, thermometer, and preferably the link band? I just really love the looks of that watch and it has all the features I want. I do agree that G-shocks to scream digital, but I like how that watch seems to blur the lines between dress and play if that makes sense. It looks serious enough that it doesn't look like a kid's watch. I love the analog compass, but in all reality I don't know how often I would use it anyway.
For myself - haven't found it yet. Looks like it'll be a Suunto button compass (they started making these again!) on a NATO style band if I want everything on my wrist. A lot of the Casio offerings are just too big for my likening - I'd rather have a simple durable analog watch that fits under my shell than a bunch of features I don't use strapped around the outside.
