Hey great carry as usual Microbe, todo en ningún color negro ! Oh … nice Demko knife … What do you think of the Shark Lock and what blade alloy did you choose?
Hello HF! Gracias. The shark lock has been out for a long time now, but not easy to find with a black handle when in Europe. I picked up the first one I spotted and it's with a aus10 blade. Not something to write home about, but I have aus8 knives and they cut to. It's certainly overpriced for the materials you are getting. Still, worth it due to the sharklock I wanted to try. I picked the sharksfoot model just because it's a bit different. It's got a high fidget factor, and is easy to use. The lock is a bit sharp to actuate, and my finger tip needs to develop some extra callus. Sometimes I try to unlock it by pressing where the lockbar would have been on a framelock. Old habits haha. Overall, it's a well made knife, and the sharklock works very well. Ciao!
I've quite a few fixed and folding knives with chemically comparable 440C, AUS-8 & AEB-L blades. They all work fine. Maybe they're not in fashion and branded super duper along with some of the ever increasing number club (eg S30V, S35VN, S45VN, S90V, S110V etc et al) IMHO often happy to imply bigger is better. When in fact balderdash, give me any with he best executed heat treat regime. It's a pity the knife industry doesn't issue their steel's hardness Rockwell C test data for each individual blade along with batch heat treated Charpy test data. I'd pay extra for that. Que tengas un buen domingo.
Yes, hrc on each blade would be a great feature. I have a sog in aus8 that kept on surprising me as it's supposed to be a low end steel. Zero complaints on it. I'd love to know the hrc of it.
I feel ya, a TBC custom has been a grail of mine for years, this is one knife that won’t see hard use.
#TGIF Full disclaimer, photo from last Friday, but same philosophy applies today - only the weather is a little (or very much so) less photogenic today.
Happy Stanislav Petrov day! Unfortunately so very relevant again these days. On the carry side of things, I’m changing it up a bit for the occasion. Or not really. I’m not one to change things around much, and I’ve certainly dropped out of the color coordination game a long time ago, but last week the stars aligned in a neat coincidence. A couple of orders that were placed over a long period of time all arrived in the same week. And they were all black Realizing the obvious theme going on, I just had to go with the flow. Received last week; Sofirn HS05, Casio G-Shock GBD-200 and black linen micarta scales from Cuscadi. Switched out my regular green Cadet with a black one from the sock drawer to complete the theme.
