Love this pic. It's very pleasing to the eye. The human brain is wired to find certain images pleasing, patterns, repetitive objects etc. I think mine is wired to love pens, knives, torches and leather wallets. Great shot mate. Nice gear too. How does that Lamy fountain pen feel on the paper? Is it a smooth nib? I've been using Kaweco for sometime now, heard good things about the Lamy pens.

Great pic and quality gear as always. Is the knife (top left) the same brand as the bolt pen Gary? Hope you've had a good weekend.

    Thanks Colt!

This is my first fountain pen, so I have nothing to compare it to. I only use it on very smooth papers like Rhodia 80g (because even the EF nib is too wide for my tiny handwriting on other papers), and it doesn't feel scratchy at all. The feel is very pleasant with just enough resistance to have good control. Kind of a buttery feel.

I really like this pen - understanding its limitations in my use. Having said that, I'm also looking at a Kaweco or TWSBI in hope of more versability.

    E. Here's an example on what the Lamy trace looks like on Field Notes paper (60g)

I think you've convinced me. I will be going on ebay just after ive posted this. Thanks for the feedback. I got a Kaweco Sport, it wasn't very expensive at all and is genuinely one of the best fountain pens i have, even over the more expensive Sonnet or Cross models.

I believe you'll be happy with the Vista. It's very, very comfortable, well balanced and a great looking thing. I would like it even more if my handwriting was of a normal size and not so limiting, but that's just a fault of mine, not the pen.

I did have an actual problem when I tried a converter cartridge and some Cult Pens' Deep Dark Blue ink (which I've understood is considered quite flowy); the trace would get thicker while writing to the point of being rather messy. The ink would also stop flowing all together when taking a small break, like for 20 seconds, and would then need to be "restarted" with scribbling until there was a trace again. None of this happens with Lamy's T10 cartridges, they work consistently and well. I don't have enough experience to debug this reliably wether its an ink issue or a mistake of mine when using the converter.
