"I'm too poor to afford cheap stuff" is another good one. My motto is, if I touch something every day, and rely on it to work, then I buy the best I can afford to buy. There is a point of diminishing returns, of course. That point shifts for different folks, though. But also, if I touch it every day, I try to make it something I really enjoy. That way, I get quite a bit of small joys from long days. I will pay a little extra for that.
Actually I did trade for my first one. This one was paid for and I did shop for the very best price which was found at eCop on the bay. I use a pen all day so I splurged. I have a number of $100+ pens that were either bought or gifted by my lovely wife. Some are knife nerds, some pen freaks. Besides, in a day and age where some people spend 1000.00 on a set of knucks or 400 on a lanyard bead or $290.00 on a SAK, 140 for a "usable" item is not alot. I'll also be honest....I like the questions and compliments such an unusual pen gets. "you always have the strangest things". -----I love that comment.
Nice stuff as always Rick. What is the light and carabiner? No idea on the light, but the carabiner might be Handgrey??
Carabiner is a Leatherman which was about 5 bucks and the light is a four sevens Titanium AO Limited edition for a certain flashlighlight forum. The light was a little pricey at 40 bucks.
I had that light. So tiny, but decent tint/CRI. Gave it to my gf so she would have something on her keychain.
The Leatheman carabiner is less than $5 on the bay so I ordered one. Did you tumble or beadblast yours? Appears they are stainless and yours looks cooler than that. The light is only 30 lumens, is it bright enough? It's a mule so it will be very "floody". It looks much higher end than its price indicates.
In total darkness it's more than enough light. Not going to light up the night but enough to see where you dropped something or doing a task with your hands in the dark. I've got numerous other Four sevens for different tasks and a Sunwayman V11r with extender for my heavy lighting. Carabiner was dipped in Ferric and given a tumble.
