Check Youtube, lots of video reviews. You'll find more on the original 5.11 Rush bag, but that's pretty similar to the Lima in terms of size. I've seen a video review of the Mike where the guy fit a 15" laptop, a slim netbook and an ipad into it. It was pretty stuffed at that point, but it did fit that stuff. Of course if you wanted to carry that much on a regular basis, you'd have to size up to the Lima. My guess is the Mike will be way too small for what you're after. I think a pair of sneakers and gym clothes would pretty much fill the bag. And forget about use as a weekend bag.
Thanks for the insight odg!!! I have seen the govx review on the nbt mike, and yes it does seem small. The Overwatch Carry-on may work too. Only concern about is if you load up the garment bag to much, the main compartment space definitely gets smaller. Decisions, decisions, decisions. As we all know the search for a perfect bag is a never-ending process.
I'd go for the Lima, you're best value for the money is when you can make use of the bag most times of the year. Small or large bags are usually occassion specific. I do have most size range of messenger and packs and its always the medium that gets the daily routine.
I totally understand where you are coming from and getting the maximum value out of the bag. EDIT: Amazon has the 5.11 NBT Lima (on prime). Only catch, the ad shows a "double tap" image for a "black" selection choice. Amazon simply stated it may have been created wrong, and simply stated I could return it if the item is the wrong color. Man, if only it was the "double tap."
Hey guys! Quick question! Could the 5.11 2-banger be worn as a waistbag? i mean i 've noticed that the sling can be worn many ways, but i have never seen it worn as a waistbag!
well here you go.... here it is with its normal load out between a rush 12 and moab 10 for comparison... Untitled by sknipfer27, on Flickr its normal load out....still room for more... by sknipfer27, on Flickr with moab 10 inside... by sknipfer27, on Flickr loaded out with rolled up full sized inflatable mattress and 2 normal pillows... Untitled by sknipfer27, on Flickr next to rush 72 and condor venture pack...you can see how it doesnt have as much "structure" as other 5.11 bags, but i think it will hold up just the same... Untitled by sknipfer27, on Flickr hope these help for size comparisons, personally it is good duffle, but just to big for a gym bag for me....
The overwatch is quite sufficient for a full travel bag. You are slightly limited by the 10" height and depth., so no laptops. I think I posted a full three day travel load out here a while back. I can typically load 2 pants, 3 shirts, wife's dress in the garment section with chuckka boots, small bags with t-shirts, shorts, and socks inside the bag and still not pack it full. I still had room inside and the end pockets not even started.
Wkso27 - thanks for all the pictures and size comparisons. I definitely see why that bag may be a bit on the large side. That's the "black" color, correct? ac7ss - I just looked back through your post history on the overwatch. that definitely seems like a similar loadout for my weekend trips. Yes, no laptops, but thankfully, I will be carrying my tablet/laptop(s)/etc in my Covrt 18 backpack.
Here's my new Rush 12. I would like to thank mley1, tmedina, and other members for sharing their great ideas and mods. All the mods I did to my Rush 12 were gathered and learned from various threads right here on edcforums.com Thanks for sharing.
I added a neon green cobra stitch wrap to the grab handle of my Rush 12 to compliment the neon green zipper pulls.
