I heard the news that there was a fatal shooting last week at one of the parades.
    I lived there from 1973-1986.
Was thinking of perhaps moving back, but the increased crime + shootings situation has changed my mind for now.

I have a non-tactical messenger bag that is about the same capacity as the Lima. I'm in the process of rehabilitating that bag (removing deteriorating water resistance coating, minor stitching), and once done, that bag will be fine for when I want to carry more stuff, so the Lima would be superfluous.

I don't 'need' the Mike bag, but it has some advantages over my existing messenger bag (assuming it will fit what I need to carry):
    - padded laptop compartment
    - smaller (less temptation to carry extra stuff)
    - more tacticool :D
    - water bottle pockets
    - looks like it will stand up on its own. My existing bag is quite floppy, no internal structure.
    - can fit umbrella underneath
    - ccw compartment + velcro

It ended up being a double homicide, but I'm not gonna let one persons actions dictate my mardi gras plans, it can get pretty bad here, you have to be on your game and ready for anything at all times. Besides where we stand for parades is further downtown alot safer area.

    here you go...

this is my EDC moab 10, this bag gets me to and from work, Im still working on getting some photos of the other bags contents...

Main compartment hold my coffee and water bottles, radio, flashlight, and my back up gun (SW 642) in G&G Bootlock holster...

    [IMG]Untitled by sknipfer27, on Flickr

in the inside flap of the main compartment i keep a pair of gloves, ace wrap and gauze, and a small hygiene kit with shampoo, soap, mouthwash etc....

    [IMG]Untitled by sknipfer27, on Flickr

the admin pocket is an ad hoc medical pocket...i keep a decompression needle, Nasal airway, combat bandage, pen, notebook, handwarmers, normally there is a tourniquet and halo chest seal but unfortunately they were used at work and have not been replaced yet.

my duty gun also rides in the admin pocket in a custom kydex holster...the "hidden" ccw pocket is not big enough for a full sized 1911 but the admin pocket fits it like a glove and is just as accessible.

hope thats what you were looking for!!

Hi everyone, I recently joined the forum. Hope you're all having a good day abusing your 5.11 bag. I'm very happy with these bags, they just want more and more abuse and can take it. And a recent experience with their customer service will keep me coming back for a long time. My preference is the double-tap and storm colors, here's my Rush 24... I use it for my laptop & work stuff.

Hey switchblade906 - Here's a photo from when I used to keep it in the hydration compartment. I have a smaller Z-book, 13.5" x 9.5" and it fits just right. But I like to put files in there now, so I bought a laptop-sleeve and I just tuck it into the main compartment with my lunch-bag, books, line, bugees, clothes, and eye-glass cases, etc. A 15" might not fit in the hydration area, but with a sleeve it will probably sit nicely in the big pocket of the main compartment. hope this helps.

Thank you. I tried it in the hydration compartment but it doesn't fit and I don't have a laptop sleeve. I'll have to look into one of those.

My newest 5.11 bag, a 4-Banger I picked up last week. It's a nice bag, but not exactly what I was looking for. Oh well, the never-ending bag search continues...

i have the Lima in black. It is large bag, could replace a rush 72, but too big for EDC or gym type bag. They bag is well built, typical 5.11 quality, however it is very flimsy, it wont stand open while loading the bag, it just falls in on itself....thats my only gripe.

Is it possible to post some pictures or do a mini-review? Do you think the Mike is a better fit? If the mike is to big than the xray will probably definitely be too bbig.

The bag will be used for a gym bag and then also used as a weekend bag for 2-3 day trips (e.g. carry-on for plane).

5.11 has the 20% sale right now, so justifying if i want to purchase one.
