I've been thinking about another FP purchase. Have trouble making my mind up though. Considering the mini 580 from TWSBI.

I don't want to belabor the point excessively, but... I can't imagine that I would ever buy another TWSBI after the long series of broken parts I've experienced. And I didn't treat them roughly at all. I've never seen that happen with any other brand of fountain pen.

What broke exactly? I've been carrying a vac700 and love it. It's a great writer and other than being too :censored: big I really like it.

My most frequent EDC fountain pen for the last few months has been my Namiki Vanishing Point. It's well suited because it's retractable. And, the writing is A-OK! Never dries out -- the little trap door that seals the nib must work pretty darn well. Love that pen, and very reasonable priced (for a FP :)).

I'm using a Pilot Prera Demonstrator right now. At first I didn't care for it as it had a medium nib and I prefer a fine nib but I found out while cleaning it that it takes the same nib as a Metropolitan so I swapped nibs with one of my metros and now it writes perfect loaded up with Diamine Oxblood.

It is just some sort of generic "looks like" fountain pen--the best thing is that is it just somehow keeps on working---and writes well--?
Thanks for the note on the sticker---I am an MST3K fan---I YouTube the episodes over and over---and still laugh!

I have owned a few TWSBI pens and still own a mini. I have had two break with just occasional regular use. My current mini is perfect. I think they are a little bit of a crapshoot but for the price, they are one of the best values out there.

If you are going to spend the money on a TWSBI, I say double your budget and get a Lamy 2000. It is a great pen, affordable, piston fill and the two that I have owned have been perfect in every way.

I've been using a rose gold 580 for over a year and have not had any problems with it. I've used about 3/4s of a bottle of Noodler's ink in that time. I have a mini that has seen less use - I've probably run about 8-12 fills through it - but I haven't had any problems with it, either. The 580s just seem to fit my hand well and I think you get good value for the money. It isn't that I'm trying to get by with an inexpensive pen - my most carried pen is a Waterman Carene, which is noticeably more expensive than a TWSBI - I just happen to like the TWSBI 580.

I've been using my TWSBI mini for two years now with no problems at all, it's an extra-fine and writes smoothly with no skipping. The ink I've been using the whole time is Private Reserve Copper Burst.

Just got my first fountain pen the other day as a gift, a pilot vanishing point in matte black with copper colored ink.

And? How do you like it? (Seeing as how I just praised it, I'm hoping I didn't steer anyone wrong.)

    One of these.
The yellow is a Vanishing Point.
The white one is a Decimo.

    Both in fine.
