I know we've got a thread for general writing instruments, but let's see some pictures of your EDC fountain pens. Sent from my HTC One M8 via Tapatalk.
Three Pilot Kakunos. Two fine point, one medium. A Pilot Metropolitan M nib, and a Waterman Expert II F nib. I use all of them everyday.
Pilot Vanishing Point in FP. Gun metal grey and black. Just received it yesterday. Very smooth writing. No skips or anything. No issues.
@whoppo That's a BIG pen! Pretty cool, I'm also interested to know what it is. @foxmo How do you like those Kakunos? Are they all plastic or is the body metal? I might like them if they have a bit of heft to them. The section looks wider than the Metro's (which is just a bit on the small side for me; I still use and love the Metro though). @firemission Very cool! I love the VP and I'll have one eventually. Have you tried Bad Belted Kingfisher? I like the color of it better than BBH.
The Kakunos are all plastic and quite light. I love the grip of them. They're sort of triangular, but way easier to hold than the Lamy Safari. It's by far my favorite pen. I find the Metropolitan hard to grip too, even though I have small hands.
That's the exact same pen that I carry. My wife got it for me from Richard Binder. The F nib is perfect. I also occasionally carry a Lamy Logo with EF nib or a Lamy Safari with with a 1.1mm stub. --flatline
If they're really light, I probably won't be a big fan. That's the primary reason I don't care for my set of 78G's. I have small hands as well, but prefer larger diameter pens.
Flatline; I have a Lamy Safari in Charcoal with a fine point. You know I've been considering the flat black Vanishing Point in Fine point. It seems I can write better with fine points.
I have a Pelikan m205, several TWSBI's, too many safari's and I'm thinking about buying a MB 149 to match my MB rollerball.
I rotate between a Lamy 2000 (B), Rotring 600 (B), a Pelikan 400nn (OB) and a Parker 51 Vac (OB). Prior to EDCF, I had a pen problem, I seem to have it under control now but every once the new a while I come close to enquiring about a custom Ti Chris Thompson Duofold. Cheers, Ted
My TWSBI Micarta came in today! I'm really liking it so far. I got the clipped version since I carry my pens in a pants pocket when I'm not wearing a dress shirt or my white coat for school/interning. I really like micarta as a material already, so this pen went on my wishlist the first time I saw it. Anyways, it has a bit of an odor to it, but people say it dissipates after a little while. It doesn't bother me at all; although I did work in a paint shop for a while one summer so I'm used to chemical smells, lol. Anyways, here's the pictures in comparison to a TWSBI 580 and a Lamy Safari.
If you like the fine nib in your existing VP, you could simply order a flat black body and transfer your nib unit. I've been considering getting a .9mm cursive italic nib from Richard Binder for my existing VP. The F nib writes great, but my hand writing looks better with a bit of line variation. --flatline
Been carrying the shirt pocket friendly Pelikan m205 for the last couple weeks. Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
