My two aloxes ... Pioneer X and Farmer ... :)

    My opinions (more CONS):
    1) I have both the keyring nubs removed - I like having lanyards but this was really uncomfortable.
    2) Also I find the scissors pretty hard to open - not by the sole fact the nailnick is on the other side but because the combination of the nailnick position AND the much stronger alox springs.
    3) Also the back of the saw on the Farmer is a bit annoying from time to time.
    4) What surprised me is the difference between the strenght of the springs on the tools both the knives have - especially the can opener is much easier to open on the PX than on the Farmer. Weird.

Anyway, both knives are nice and very well built and already have a firm place in my humble collection but I have a feeling I'll end up with buying a simple Pioneer for EDC and a Forester for walks in the woods. :)

BTW With my frequency of buying aloxes I'll soon be an experienced keyring nub remover ... :D

PS: LOL, I wasn't sure if I should have a knife with scissors or a knife with a woodsaw ... I picked the PX ... then I picked the F ... now I'm not sure if I should carry a knife with scissors or a knife with a woodsaw ... OMG :D

I rarely carry an Alox, although I own upwards of 20. While I have never had problems with the keyring nub, I tend to carry these in a leather pocket sheath. It's quite comfortable.

I understand, but I've got too much mess on my belt already :D and having a sheath in pocket would be too much ... :)
Anyway, my nubs are gone (lol).

You can always combine the SAKS and make a Farmer X...

I wish I knew how to do that! :D
I guess the rivets (how do you call the round things holding the knife together?) could be drilled off. But where to buy new I dont know ... :)

Those are called pins... where to source them? Now that's a good question... Hopefully some hackers here can answer this.

As I want one as well, this (googled pic) should give us some visual...

    My current Vic collection :)

From the top - Huntsman, Camper, Spartan, Pioneer X, Farmer - plus Vic Classic on the left.

Today, I received new scales for the Classic and managed to crack them, stupid me. I'll have to get new ones.
The Cellidor knives were cleaned and ready to be shipped to Victorinox to get new scales (didn't quite hold on the knives) but in the end I used some superglue and a vice to make them hold. :)
The Spartan, Pioneer X and Farmer have the keyring nub removed (PX and F because it really bothered me when cutting with them, S because I never used it). :)

    I'm expecting a Forester and a Pioneer tomorrow. :D

That's just GREAT! Even the nailnick on the scissors is on the "right" side ... :)

PS: What I would like to have is basically an Alox Huntsman (red alox, white logo, Pioneer tools + saw + scissors) ... that would be pricey though ...

PPS: This is what I want to try some day - a Cadet Tinker combo ... :)

My mistake - it is a Cadet Tourist combo ...

BTW the smaller Alox tools (especially the bottle opener) are really breaking my nails, it's annoying and sometimes even painful ... I never had trouble with weak nails ...

Good mail call today! 2 84mm customs (Cadet II X and Waiter) courtesy of Steven Pruette (the Waiter is what is left from the Golfer I pillaged for scissors) and a NIB Wenger SI that he purchased on my behalf (for $29.99!)

Top to bottom: Pioneer X, Farmer, Pioneer. And my trusty E12 flashlight.
I happened to catch the so called Alox pox, I suppose. :)

This is the Farmer. Is it normal that the tip of the blade is so close to the wood saw? I'm afraid of the saw blunting the edge of the blade if either of the tools moves or gets bent only a little ...

I believe you will find that the blade is intentionally 'crinked' (also seen it spelled 'krinked') by Victorinox. This light bending of the blade makes them all fit better. I know that the Vic Soldier is crinked and, to a lessor extent, the Vic Farmer is crinked.

When I'm closing the wood saw I carefully guide it in to the knife so it doesn't catch on or mar the back of the main blade.
