I paid one dollar today for my original Spyderco Delica. Its very nice and i could use a new edc blade, however, this same knife is selling for 85 bucks an ebay. so should sell, collect, or use my new knife? Thank you
I would personally keep it as a collectible. The original Delica was the first knife that I EDCed on a regular basis. Therefore, it's sentimental value for me. Just my 2 cents. Robert
If it is already used it will have low collector's value. However, if it is mint, you may wish to consider keeping it that way.
A knife, especially a Spyderco, should be used. Collect things that are neat, and can't be used. I have a studio full of inert ordnance.
I'd sell it. There are better user knives out there, at least in my opinion, and if you use it you'll lower it's resale value. Unless you really like it & want to hold onto it, I'd sell it. I'd only use it if you find it really amazing as a user knife.
Is it there with a "buy it now" price of $85 or has someone actually bid and paid that price for one in the same condition as yours? It can be hard to judge selling prices on the older and disco'd knives. Sometimes ebay is the only place you can see a particular model/variation for sale at a given time but, IMO, that doesn't always make it an accurate barometer of what your knife might be worth to someone else.
Use it. One should collect art, knick-knacks and tatoos. A knife is meant to be used, not collected. Seeing as how you only paid a dollar, your only other path (IMHO) is to sell it for a tidy profit, and buy a knife you will use. Aint nuttin wrong with a little free market profiteering
Use it or see a doctor at once! Also, if the knife remains in your hands in the open position for more than four hours, seek medical help.
