Out of curiosity, how many EDCF'ers are shift workers? Rotating/8's/10's/12's....... or any other variations. I work a "5 Letter Rotating 12 hour shift" which means there are 5 separate crews all working different shifts. I am curious to see other variations! Have you worked 7 on 7 off? If so what did you like or not like? Thanks!

When I worked as an overnight manager at Walgreens, we did 10 hour shifts, 10PM to 8AM, 8 days on, 6 days off. That was my favorite work schedule I've ever had. Always had plenty of time to do anything I felt like doing on my off days.

In the navy, I was on a 4 shift rotation. 7 days on, 2 days off, 7 Graveyard on, 2 off, 7 swing, 4 off.

All I have now is a regular 5 on 1130-1930. easy commute.

4pm-12, Mon thru Friday. We do rotate weekends so we have small crew coverage. Three months out of the year I work weekends.

Oops, forgot to answer that. I would much prefer to do 3 x 12 than my 4 x 8. More hours and an extra day off

Right now, I'm only working four 5's. After probationary period, I'll be trying to switch that to two 10's or something... and add on hours here and there when needed. :)

Whatever schedule it ends up being, I do know one thing - I love coming in to work each day. :)

I worked a couple variations of 4x10's before my current rotating 12's. Other than swapping between days/nights/days (sometimes you kinda "lose" a day off to sleep lol) I have way more USEABLE time off. Longer stretches like 4 days and 7 days off every 5 weeks makes it worth the extra hours at work. Plus it cuts a couple of commutes out of my life per cycle!

I work from 10p - 6a, Sun-Thur as a Supervisor but before that I was subject to all 3 shifts in a week. Our schedule is all over the place and mix in some typical "State worker mentality", it gets even worse. That being said I'm stoked to have a job (that I like) and appreciate all the edc type items it affords me. I find that I enjoyed 3rd shift a bit more when I was younger but with a wife and kids, my schedule is totally out of wack with theirs and thats no good.

That was the one part I didn't like about my night shift. I saw my daughter about an hour a day. I started only sleeping about 4 hours a day just to be able to read her a book once in a while and let the missus get a few hours of shut eye while I took the baby.

Those all the shifts I work any combination with2 free days those days rotate every week. I work in a USA based company and I hate them they do not respect night time, holidays and everything above 40h is not payed but we need to work. My week is in the range from 40-60 h. :(

The library is open from 10 to 20, so we have two shifts, both nominally 7:15 long. The normal shift begins whenever you feel like coming in between 7-9 and ends between 15-18. The evening shift is from 12:45 to 20:05. Usually there's one evening shift each week, sometimes two, sometimes none. And sometimes there's the saturday shift as well (from 8:45 to 16).

I work 24/48h meaning I'm on duty a whole day and then I'm off for two days with the shift change at 6:45 in the morning.

I work shifts but we have no set pattern as we need to be flexible on male/female staff and skill mix. i often work a mix of early and late shifts with the odd night thrown in just to further confuse my body clock. I often have no clue what day it is.
