just got myself a new one from the local army surplus shop, after I lost my old one a while back. my favorite coulor is olive green and black, mainly because white wouldn't fit in with my normal wardrobe, and the other coulors are all god awful (although I would consider an orange one for outdoors use, if they had them) I try to follow the classic maxim "you should allways know where your towel is". as the shemagh matches a towel for utility grounds, but looks more stylish, I consider it a suitable alternative. you can even use it to confuse any ravenous bugblatter beasts you might come across during your travels :lolhammer:
Shemagh = Towel and if you're hitchhiking across the galaxy, you'll probably find a thousand uses for it.
I carry one every day. make no mistake, the thin cotton of most shemaghs does not make for a great towel. some thicker ones might make due, but mine isn't even good enough to wipe away condensation from a windshield. OTOH, it's a perfect scarf when you tuck it into the neck of your jacket, a perfect face warmer in 40 MPH, 40 degree winds, a field expedient sling, cravat, immobilization packing or even a pressure bandage. If you can get over looking like a terrorist wear one, but I think it's excellent to have one because of its multiple uses even if it never goes on your neck or head. (DO NOT wear it over your head, just over your face like a scarf covering your mouth, it really freaks people out otherwise)
Is there a difference if i get a 42x42 or 44x44? Just noticed the size differance between the Condor brand and the EPO brand.
As far as finding the best/cheapest option. Go n Amazon and search for either Shemaghs or Keffiyehs. MANY inexpensive options, I got a blaze orange and black one for I thin $5.00! :highfive:
Big fashion/hipster item around NYC the last year or two, i often find them laying around the crib after a night drinking. Are available on the street and in dollar stores and the like for a few bucks... I keep meaning to grab a few yellow or orange ones but haven't gotten around to it. Common colors are purple, blue, pink, and there are lots of designs/weaves floating around
Never forget your towel, great reference to one of the best books ever written! Btw... I'll be getting another one as soon as I decide on a new bag
Mine is always in my bag. Never know when it will come in handy. Anybody know where to find a thicker one for cold weather? All I've seen are thin ones.
I can't quite tell how Damon has his wrapped from the trailer for Green Zone. It looks more like a fashion accessory than anything, but I'll defer to anyone who has actually been in the Green Zone for I have certainly not.
