Man I def agree, this is a super nice watch for $65 shipped. Great quality a littler smaller then I was hoping for. But still can not be beat for the price killer watch. G-Shock has been officially retired and is going up for sale lol

Seikos 5's are great watches, and that's a very good price for one :)

I use to buy Seiko and for some reason I stopped and starting buying Fossil.
I was forever changing the style that I just had to have six months earlier.
Now I have gone back to the simple look of a good watch.
I guess the need to be in "fashion" left as I got older.
I want good items that do not lose their class with the times.

I truly am turning into my grandfather.

No ur not my friend sometimes plain is the most beautiful. I to use to love flashy shiny watches and now also like plain watch that is well made.

Do u guys know if the glass is scratch resistant?

Almost ordered one of these a few weeks back but I always some how pull the pin on watches and stop it or re-adjust date/time somehow and this pin sticks out all by itself so been looking at the SNS75 or SNKL23 instead.

That description is in line with what I've always read about Hardlex (less scratch resistant than sapphire, but more impact resistant). In terms of real world use, I have scratched a Hardlex crystal, but it took a lot to do so - I accidentally whacked my watch against the corner of a countertop. That being said, crystal replacement is a pretty straightforward thing for a watchmaker/jeweler to do.

Speaking on Seiko 5's in more broad strokes, if you are interested in a mechanical watch, you would be hard-pressed to find a better value for your dollar.

I have never owned a Weekender.
I cannot answer this question with any knowledge.

This is how mine looked about 24 hours after I got it.. No idea how I managed to do it.

I feel I have beat up the green one more, but that has NO marks. Startto wonder if there is a difference in the J1 and K1. My green is a made in Japan. The black is not..

Been wearing a SMY111 (seiko kinetic) since December. Zero scratches on the hardlex, but there's enough on the bezel that I deserve to have a couple. Good stuff.

Just put a SNKL07 on my Amazon wishlist. Only $3 more and you get a stainless band, which I prefer. Worn out too many rubber and canvas bands.

That looks great on a NATO strap. I'm wearing an Invicta right now, but I've heard great things about the 5's (as far as "bang for buck" goes). I may have to pull the trigger on one of those!

I've had this for about 5 years and hardly worn it. I keep it mostly for the see through back.

I've had the Japanese model similar to that one for a few years now. It has held up really well. There's just something about automatics like this that draws me. I don't wear it very often, so I'm always having to wind and set it but other than that its a great watch.

Regular glass is prone to scratches. Only sapphire glass will provide enough resistance to stand its ground vs time and stay untouched and unscratched as years go past. But I would find it very unlikely that a watch that cheap could come mounted with sapphire glass. I guess it's an awesome watch but one has to accept it will quickly show the stigmas of time.
