Thanks to the POSTS of Red-Five, Panzer and jjk454ss, on their Sarma Custom Made Torba Mini bags, I decided to get in touch with Sarma Custom. I messaged Boris on Facebook and our messages went back and forth. I wanted an EDC bag that would be able to hold an iPad Air2 as well as a mirrorless camera. I was looking for a "small" EDC bag that I could use touring a city on vacation or for a short hike. Boris' recommendation was for a Torba MIDI. So despite having a ton of bags already for EDC, I pulled the trigger on a Torba MIDI in black and I am glad I did. The Torba MIDI is similar to the Torba Mini (see Red-Five, Panzer and jjk454ss posts) but with bigger dimensions. Here are a few pics. The Torba MIDI does not come with a water bottle holder. I just attached an ITS skeletonized water bottle at the side (which has 3 molles instead of 2 from the Torba Mini) As you can see, the Torba MIDI holds an iPad Air 2 and a Fuji XPro2 in both the front and rear compartments. This is with a Kleen Kanteen 20oz water bottle beside it in the rear compartment With a Fuji XPro2 in the rear With the FujiXPro2 in the front I tried taking it out on a short day hike and here are a few pics of the loadout for sizing reference. Front Compartment It's not clearly shown but my iPhone 6plus is in the clear zipper compartment beside the gloves. The small removable zippered compartments fit an Altoids Tin Rear Compartment can hold a GSI cup with a small canister fuel and MicroRocket Stove, GSI Soloist Pot, Shemagh, and packable jacket. This all fits in the rear compartment. With a 32 oz Nalgene Bottle in the rear compartment for size reference A few things make this bag different though. The back panel has molle And at the bottom is a small zippered compartment that houses a raincoat With the raincover on Overall, this is a great EDC bag for my purposes and the quality is top notch. Very cool tandem! I really like that variation with its extra pockets molle, rain cover. Ha I hear ya, "Did i need it? mmmaybe not, but glad I did." Its unique differences sold me on it, and I'm hoping to get a hold of the X-Strap harness sometime soon. Thanks for sharing! rf
I came here just because of the funny name. First, the word 'Sarma' or on my language ,,Сарма'' is food, it's made with rice and meat rolled in a cabbage or young grape leaf. Second, 'Torba' or on my language ,,Торба'' means a large/travelling bag. I dunno if this bag's name is given on purpose, or accidentally, but kinda funny for me .
It is not only food. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarma_(wind) But "Torba" -it's just a "Bag", you are right.
Nice pics and nice set up. I have been following Sarma for quite awhile now. I finally bought a mini. If you go back through sarma's facebook you can find lots of examples of variants of midis. I like look at them and after the summer is over and I have used my mini I am going to get a custom midi as well. Can you post dimensions of yours? One thing I can say is that I can full load up my mini and it actually can fit in one of the sections of the kifaru koala. I kinda like the large size better as I like to carry mine lower than my chest. I did get the chest harness. My next ask from Sarma is going to be modifying their mini vertical.I want to add some drop down loops to use as a leg bag like the Sabra (which I own as well). I going to ask to get it a bit taller so I can fit a pathfinder canteen kit in it.
I like the looks of these, may replace one of my maxped fatty versapacks with one. Especially like the rain cover idea
IHateBottleOpeners & Bora, since I did bring some food in the bag then the name Sarma Torba perfectly fit for that day.
Thanks to you Red-Five I found out about Sarma Custom. Dani, based on my dealings with them, Sarma Custom is an excellent company and the Torba Midi is an excellent bag. Boris was very helpful answering all my questions. Thanks Panzer. I have yet to play and experiment with the molle at the back but this does increase its versatility.
rcw357, You will not be disappointed. Just be thorough in describing what you want from Boris and I am confident they will deliver. The dimensions of my Torba Midi are as follows: Length x Width x Depth/Height - 12.5" x 10" x 6" if the bag isn't stuffed, the dimensions are 12.5" x 10" x 4.5" Hope this helps
Comrads, you can order a bag in your dimensions. I'm here: https://www.edcforums.com/forums/sarma-custom-made.193/
Following Red-Five, I tried attaching my Sarma Torba Midi to my GR1. Fits well. The Molle back panel of the Midi helps a lot in attaching it to my Goruck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
dwong, This is a good bag and it fits our Fuji Xpro2 with the 16mm f1.4 lens. But in no way will this bag hold a dslr such as a Nikon D4s with 24-70mm lens Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You will not be disappointed. Post a review and loadout when you get yours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
