Say you are going on a Safari what would be the one perfect knife to take along?

If you have been on a Safari your in put would be great.

type, length, sheath, grind, steel, and handle.

    Thank you very much

Then the Pendleton Hunter Mobuse suggested is a great choice.

I have taken a small Bark River and a Russell stag handle small hunter knife but always with a good folder too. I have a Cold Steel Pendleton hunter (Christmas present) and that will be my go-to knife for future safaris (South Africa X1, Namibia X2 and Zimbabwe X2). The PHs usually use their knife for hard tasks but its good to have your own too!

I was thinking a Puma White Hunter, original one, a knife full of functions designed by hunting association or something.

Check out the knives these guys carry.

It's been a while since I browsed their site, but they have some good recommendations for field knives. Granted, they are directly affiliated with ESEE Knives, so you have to take those recommendations into context, but most of their input is very good and based on real-world experience.

    African Safari Knife?

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I am planning a safari to South Africa and the equipment list includes "a proper hunting knife."

I have hunted in the US for over 30 years, but I would like to have a nice knife to bring to Africa. The Cold Steel Pendleton Custom is on my short list, but I also like the versatility of the Cold Steel Outdoorsman.

Any suggestions from those who have been on Safari?

    Thank you!
