I carry a flashdrive on my keyring because if it's not attached to me i'll lose it. Lately i've notice that the hole in the end of the shell is showing a bit of wear, and i'm concerned that it may break through and i'd find myself without a backup of a term paper on the due date.
I thought of those "key" flashdrives, and i'll probably get one eventually, but i'm broke so i'm looking for ideas for reinforcing the one i've got to prevent/slow further wear and tear.

Make a loop with sheet metal and glue inside the hole to stop wear?

A small loop of 550 and a small piece of heat shrink. It will work on a flash drive as well as it did on a Bic mini.

Cover the thing in epoxy. :p I took the flimsy case off my flashdrive and gave it 4 or 5 coats of epoxy. The thing is indestructible now. I'm sure you could also sculpt a lanyard hole if you were patient.

Could just put a smaller split ring on the flash drive then use it to connect to the keyring. Or one of those mcgizmo clips in the store.

A ball bearing swivel for fishing installed between the split ring and main keyring may reduce wear on the lanyard hole. I'm liking the paracord/shrink tube idea too.
