So I just happened to come across these pictures on the internet. Bronze watches or watches that can have a patina. I searched for them online and boy are they expensive. Can anyone help me look for something similar? Bronze watches that are able to put a patina on. Maybe around the $500 price range or lower. Thanks!
The Armida A1 (42mm) 300m brass watches are $349 shipped. Well below your price range. Just Google Armida Watches and you'll get the URL.
Brass is a relatively soft metal, maybe not best for a watch case. Tarnishes very quickly, if brass ornaments are anything to go by.
My Drill Sergeant never referred to the state of my uniform buttons and webbing fittings by either word, both of which are too polite. I guess patina sounds better.
It's a little budget stretch (and not the most readily available timepiece) but, my personal opinion, is that the Halios Tropik B is a far better (looking, quality, value, etc.) watch than anything I've seen in this thread thus far. You will only find them on the secondary market -- as far as I know Halios is defunct and I know for certain the last of the last batch of was sold December of 2013. That said, it's a miyota (citizen group) movement which is a good movement (even if I find the rotors to be a little gritty compared to the ETAs) and common so service and parts are no issue. Came in a number of dial colors, and with absolutely top quality bands. Some patience and a watchrecon alert will get you one for 6-750 depending on condition and how complete the kit is.
