Please check your PM Kanis mesomelas
Probably what Enkidu PM'ed you about, but where did you get that jacket? Fellow Dutchlander here ;-)
If I may jump in a little late to the party...
I got my Condor Softshell with the first run, and I've taken it with me everywhere. I've worn it under everything from plate carriers to web gear for airsoft, and to work and back, and have experienced no problems.
Recently I brought it with me to Japan as my outer-layer over a fleece. The construction is good, and the quality is good, but I do have a few gripes about it:
-I get alot of wash through the zipper, I wish they had added a storm flap to fix this.
-It is certainly not water PROOF, just water resistant. The day I arrived in Akita, Japan, it was perpetual rain and snow, and after 4 hours of slogging through it I was soaked to bone. First hour went alright, but by 2:30hrs I was pretty well soggy.
I'd really like to get the Condor fleece jacket, and Base II to complete my layering system, but it seems that they are sold out everywhere in my size (M).
For those of you wondering about sizing; I'm 6'4" and 160 pounds, and the medium fits me with enough room to get 2 shirts and a fleece underneath.
Does it fit you nice lengthwise and .. what's the word, widthwise? I'm about 6' and 198 pounds, so a bit on the fat side ;-)
I'm 187 cm and 115 kilo's My chest width is 115 cm my jacket size is xxl.
But the jacket fits me Good! But not enough room for a lot of underlayers. guess I need to loose some weight ;-)
@ Emthigious waar kom jij vandaan? je kop komt me bekend voor. buurt van Arnhem of Nijmegen?
So does anybody has this in stock or is back ordered until mid-summer?Also many internet retailers list size XXXL which looks like was never made.
You Can buy them in the Netherlands but they are twice the price!! 135,- euro = $ 165 and not in XXXL.
Lengthwise it fits quite well, ending just an inch or two below my belt. Assuming you dont wear your belt grandpa-style, length shouldnt be an issue. The sleeves dont start pulling back on me until I've got my arms fully stretched at a 90 degree angle to the jacket, but even if I hold my hands above my head they only pull back enough to reveil my watch.
Widthwise...well, I've got a 32 waist and am shaped like a pipe, so its hard for me to help you there. I can tell you, however, my manager is 6'5" and 200lbs of USMC and he went with the large.
Thanks, that helps!
@kanis Nope, Enschede.. Waar koop je dat spul dan in .nl?
Bought mine here;
It's on its way to me tho, I didn't receive it yet, shipping from this shop to the Netherlands costs $50,- so be warned.
Meanwhile, I got a second one in black and get some HEAVY raining here in OZ.
Holds rain beautifully.
XXXL will be available in the fall per Condor Outdoors.
Since Sydney is pretty much an extension of pacific ocean these days, I've accidently performed some VERY HEAVY rain testing of my two softshells.
conclusion - they do leak. Mostly along the seams, right sleeve and lower back being most culprits. The amount of leakage is not that big though, and the rain required has to be real heavy.
They dry almost instantly too.
Just received mine will post pics soon.
Anyone know a place that has these in stock? I'm hunting for a medium in any color other than black.
edit - Think I found one!
Where did you find some in stock? My favored retailer is not getting them for awhile and I want a XL coyote.
US Cavalry first was after May 15 ,June 1, June 15 and now this is the latest.

This is expected. They have a waterproof membrane in them, but the seams aren't seam taped and sealed. While the design of the jacket is useful, the many pockets and such add a lot of stitching resulting in more holes for water to get through. I still think having a waterproof membrane in a softshell is a poor idea. Its not as waterproof as a fully seam taped hardshell, and its not as breathable as a non-membrane softshell.
Are all of the zippers sealed with some sort of rubber lining like you see on other outdoor softshells?
